Small but crucial tips for the Hard-mode Crota encounter

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PubcV6YW4g The encounter itself: Keep one Knight Boomer alive and snipe the other. The reason why is simply because that way the Hive Wizard will not spawn nearby Crota. Sword of a Hive Swordbearer: As was shown in the video (great strategy by the way) you need to time when Crota is about to go down aswell as the amount of hits you get in on him with the Sword. The strategy for getting rapid damage on Crota is honestly quite simple IF executed correctly by the full fireteam. 1 - The moment the Sword gets picked up he (OR she; shoutout to you lovely lady gamers out there <3) has to call out to the other team members when to shoot at Crota. 2 - When the team shoots and Crota goes down you NEED to hit him THREE times. 3 - When Crota is about to stand up its obviously smart to keep your distance from him since he can hit you. However, after Crota stands back up after his first down the team has to "nuke" the hell out of him with rockets to rapidly make him go down a second time. 4 - When Crota is down the second time you NEED to hit him THREE times again. The reason i put the "three" in caps is because the amount of hits per sword is crucial. 5 - When Crota stands back up a second time the team needs to "nuke" Crota again to make him go down a third time. 6 - When Crota is down a third time you NEED to hit him THREE times again. 7 - If steps 1 to 6 have been executed correctly by the team then you should have been able to get Crota down three times with one sword. 8 - Kill the second Swordbearer for the sword. Call out when to shoot Crota and get TWO hits in. The reason you only have to do two hits is because of the Enrage timer. When Crota is at 10-15% health he automatically gets Enraged and summons the Oversouls. A perfect execution of the first sword should put him at around 30% health. Two more hits will make it 20% which is just one hit away from him getting enraged. 9 - When Crota stands up after the two hits the team has to "nuke" him again by shooting multiple rockets to make him go down a second time. 10 - This is where the adrenaline rush will kick in for the player running with the sword. When Crota is down spam the hell out of that R1 button and get as many hits in as you can. IF executed correctly Crota SHOULD be dead after the third or possibly fourth hit with the sword. If you're reading this after the fight: Well done, Guardian. Hunters: Equip the Hungering Blade perk. If you dont know which one it is its the one that says "Kills with Arc Blade and Blink Strike immediately regenerate health". Hunter Bladedancers can use their Supercharged R1 or R2 on an Acolyte or Thrall to immediately regain their health. Incredibly useful for Hard-mode and i highly recommend using it. All it takes for a Hunter to regain full health is ONE kill with Arc Blade or Blink Strike. Warlocks: Aside from Fireborn you guys should equip the Apotheosis Veil if you have a spare one maxed out at 36 Light. When you combine it with Radiance you regain your health when you activate your Super. However, the catch to equipping the Apotheosis Veil is that it completely negates the effect of Fireborn which is VERY important to know. This will be a call on your personal preference and will be completely situational. Either you will have to equip the Apotheosis Veil WITHOUT Fireborn OR equip an Exotic that you already like along WITH Fireborn. Personally i HIGHLY recommend using the Apotheosis Veil combined with Radiant Skin. When you activate your Super not only will you regain all your health but you will also get reduced damage from nearby enemies. Titans: As was pointed out in the video: Blessing of Light is a must-have for the first part at the Crota encounter. Nobody will be able to regenerate his or her health aside from what i just recommended so the extra Armor from the Blessing is crucial aswell. Preferably to equip a raid gear piece with "Health regenerates when you pick up an Orb of Light" aswell (if you have one, that is). Personal preference: When you have a fireteam running with two Titans one should have Blessing of Light equipped and the other Weapons of Light. This purely to increase your damage against the enemies and the Knight Boomers, nothing more. Cortesy of: http://www.youtube.com/profile_redirector/100508293707852173443

  • Apotheosis Veil is amazing for the Crota part, as is any other helmet with the "orbs for health" perk. It works fine with Fireborn, rather Fireborn isn't good for Crota due to the over soul. Veil + Fireborn work great together for the rest of the raid.
