Destiny is my first ever FPS and I love it!
A few months ago I got the Invective Bounty and made my first foray into the Crucible. I averaged a 0.1 KD the first week... 103 games later I finally managed to get my Invective and have been loving it ever since. Yeah, I do feel like I "earned" that one!
I tried the Iron Banner first time around but gave up after getting shut out my first two games LOL! This past IB went better. I held my own. I got a few good legendary drops. Plus, I reached rank 5, bought some gear/weapons and had fun reforging.
I was embarrassingly bad at the crucible, but my belief was that it couldn't be that hard to get a +1.0 KD. I've enjoyed improving toward that goal. It has been a slow process, but my stats have consistently moved in the right direction.
Last week I got the Thorn bounty, a weapon that has killed me quite often - that after burn. The first steps were easy. Yet, the 500 void points in the crucible would have been impossible for me even a month ago even though being a Voidwalker Warlock helps quite a bit. It has been a satisfying feeling doing the bounty now. I've played 6 control matches and have 344 points atm.
Last night I received Hawkmoon. This was my second exotic reward. I got Hard Light playing control a while back. Getting an exotic to drop is always fun.
I'm still not a "good" player, but the challenge motivates me and makes my time in the Crucible fun. Isn't that the whole point?
EDIT: Thanks for all the positive feedback! Proof that there are good guardians enjoying the game. GLGL

It's fun and a lot of people obviously like it, however, bungie should be embarrassed that meta game pvp is nothing but 1-shot special weapons. It's a joke.
