One of the biggest things that gets me about the companion app is that it is called "Destiny". I mean, it really isn't a bad thing as one of the things that the app does wonderfully is to show you stats for your guardians and let you read grimoire, while at the same time having instant access to the forums.
The thing is, is that there are places here on Bungie.net that have little to do with Bungie and Destiny, and because the app is named "Destiny", people come into these places without any idea what these places are. They think that they stand for Destiny because the app is named Destiny and these places can be found within the app. So they make fools of themselves to longer standing members by misposting.
Upon misposting, a throng of angry elders (or converted newbies) will sweep and tell them "#Recruitment" or "#Destiny". These people have become angry because of the hundreds of times that they have had to tell someone that they are misposting. And because they are angry, the new user who has no idea where they just posted gets a stern reply. Which causes the new user to go ad hominem making both parties unhappy.
Tl;dr: People are confused and post where they shouldn't, starting a cycle of anger.
I think that the app name should be changed, but if you think that you can find a way to not have change the name of the app and manage to help new members find where they want to post, I will listen.
