If you look closely at Xur, you will see that he is wearing 2 Warlock bonds. His appearance also reminds me somewhat of a warlock with the long hood/cloak around him. Perhaps he is in a similar situation to Eris as in he used to be a normal Guardian but the Darkness consumed him or altered him ( at least appearance wise).
