Stuck on Verifying Content on PS3 - Problem reading game content. Please close Destiny to try again - The Wakening

I was playing an Eris Morn bounty on the moon, suddenly the music in the game went all glitchy sort of stopping and starting. The game slowed right down and was very framey, then my PS3 crashed and restarted itself. When I turned it back on, the game did an update. The update installed up to 67% where it says verifying content, now it won't go anything further. The first time it froze. So I quit the game and tried again. It didn't freeze the next time, but never got past 67%. I restarted and tried again, but the same thing has happened again. I can't find any saved files to delete. Is there anything else I can try, other than deleting the whole game and downloading it again? I should probably add, I was on yesterday and thought I had already done the latest update. Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions.

  • I had a similar problem to this! Except mine occurred when en route to a crucible match; music went all glitchy, picture got really framey, etc. Then when I rebooted the game tried to update, it got stuck at 16% verifying content. With no better ideas, I followed advice from an xbox-related thread (cringe) and tried putting a different game in, loading that up, quitting it and trying destiny again. Lo and behold, it worked! Fingers crossed that it doesn't do it again... Hope this helps! :)

    • Deleting the game, downloading it again and reinstalling it was the only thing that helped in the end. It's works again now. Perhaps part of the game that loads certain areas had become corrupt. Maybe due to the patch? I don't know.

Now I've got the same problem trying to load the weekly. My ship was flying, but never reached anywhere. I pressed start and then got the 'Problem reading game content. Please close Destiny to try again.' Quit Destiny, PS3 crashed and restarted.

    • It's happened again. Sound went funny, game slowed right down and went framey. Then got the error message 'Problem reading game content. Please close Destiny to try again.' Quit Destiny, PS3 crashed and restarted. When I load Destiny again, the music is still glitchy on the title screen. When I start the game, it goes back to 'installing destiny, verifying content' and stops at 67% just like before. Happened in exactly the same place, on the first Eris Morn bounty 'The Wakening' on the Moon. It happens as I walk down towards the entrance to the caves, where the wizards are. Mikkyday is right, if I load another game (Wipeout HD, both games are installed on my harddrive), then quit and load Destiny again, I can get back into the game. However it looks like I will be unable to progress as I cannot complete this bounty. I would be grateful if someone from Bungie could share their thoughts, as I can reproduce this issue, it is not a one off.
