Radiant Materials as Rewards

*edit* As an introduction, I want everyone to know that I have had this game since launch and am nearing 700 hours worth of game time according to my console's game timer. I am in this for the long haul and am only seeking improvement to the material-based upgrade system. *edit* Before the Crota DLC was dropped, Ascendent materials were extremely relevant. I needed them for all of my legendary armor and weapons, and even my exotics. Thankfully exotics no longer need ascendent materials. With the new raid came new materials to upgrade the new armor and weapons. Currently the only way to obtain Radiant materials is via Crota's End, which can only be run once a week per character. I find myself in dire need of Radiant materials due to having three characters. Ascendent materials are still handed out like candy, from daily missions, nightfall strikes, weekly heroic strikes, random events, VoG, etc etc.... Crota's End also has less loot drops than the VoG, so we earn the materials at a MUCH slower rate. I believe as of now, I'm sitting on something like 300 ascendent shards and 200 energies, gaining more and more every single day and having nothing to spend them on minus the occasional awesome new legendary weapon. As a polite suggestion, would it be cool if as the reward for certain events/mission completions, we could receive the Radiant Materials in lieu of the old Ascendent materials? For instance, if there was a toggle switch in the menu to change whether we want to receive old or new material as rewards, and maybe a trade-in or exchange system similar to the vanguard-marks-for-planetary-materials system. I.e. trade in old materials for new materials. I know that we can trade through Eris, but that's Radiant-for-Radiant and you need black wax idols. Anyone have any ideas on this?

 • Honestly sounds like it would make it too easy. After some months off from destiny I came back (sitting at 400 hours on my console) I bought some vanguard armor, leveled it up to max bonus, then bought 240 helium filaments and leveled up to 31. Completely took the joy and anticipation out of farming upgrade materials. I should also say that I really enjoy grinding anything as long as I have a goal. I stepped away from destiny because I met all my goals. Today I got Husk of the Pit and I loved every second of the grind.
