Exactly how No Land Beyond should be buffed

No Land Beyond (NLB) is the worst among the worst exotics in the game, even if you are good with it. It can hold its own in the crucible but has almost no use in PvE, unless you wanna deal a little extra damage from a cheese spot. The gun obviously needs a lot of fixing. From the stats, perks, and a little miscellaneous but how exactly? ~Starting with the stats: *Rate of Fire(RoF)- The RoF on NLB is technically the same as ice breaker and that would be alright if it could actually fire that fast, but because of the bolt animation it fires almost 3 times as slow. The time it takes to pull the bolt back is laughable I could fire 3 shots from my bolt action 16 ga in the time it takes to fire 1 NLB round and prime the next. (slight exaggeration) -Fix: simply quicken the bolt animation, not to COD speed but at least make it feel realistic. * Impact-Yet another laughable trait of this gun, the impact seems alright for this gun on paper but in practice it falls horribly short. One would think that for such a slow fire rate this thing must hit like a truck, well not really. Per bullet NLB is out preformed by almost all legendary and exotic snipers even if they have less impact. I'm not sure if this is a bug or it has to do with it being a primary but it is kinda pathetic. -Fix: Boost it like crazy, not to the point where it one shots in PvP but up until people know what just shot them. its damage should be a little over IceBreaker in PvE. When you shoot someone in PvP it should leave them with such minisclule health that a body shot from Atheon's epilogue will kill them. *Range, Stability and reload are all fine, (Maybe a very small buff to stability but not all that necessary) ~Perks: *I really have no preference for the first 3 perks, but ones that decrease range and boost other stats would be nice. *Mulligan-really worthless for this gun. If you are trying to have a gun where your shots matter why would give it a perk that encourages shitty aim. -Fix: Replace this with something more useful like unflinching or firefly. My favorite idea for a replacement would be final round. it really adds to the idea of making your shots count and would give the a one shot kill capability in the crucible for the last round in the mag. It would basically say, "lets see how much damage you can do with one bullet." *1.Agility, 2.Snapshot, 3.Flared Magwell, all of these have pretty dismal use except for snapshot, so please remove all of them. -Fix: 1. Armor Piercing Rounds/explosive rounds- this would give it some effectiveness against large groups of enemies. 2. Field scout-this will be helpful for carrying more rounds so you aren't always running out 3. Single Point Sling/Fitted Stock- SPS would help it feel more like a primary giving you more movement and less sway when ADS, Fs would greatly reduce recoil and make chaining shots much easier *The Master- Currently a lack luster exotic perk because of its uselessness in PvP, and isn't all that helpful in PvE -Fix: keep the increased precision damage and damage against next target but make it a perk that really requires someone skilled with this gun to use and rewards them greatly for it. Instead of just buffing the damage, have it buff all the stats as you chain up kills (or maybe precision shots to make it useful against bosses.) each kill or PS would increase stability, reload time, damage, RoF/bolt pull time, and range(not necessary.) So now it feels like an exotic perk and makes NLB a good exotic gun ~Miscellaneous: *Remove lens flare *Make the sight a little less bulky and remove some of the zoom *When you fire off the last round remove the bolt animation, because the priming animation after you put in the magazine would empty the chamber anyway. *More reserve ammo Let me hear what you think about NLB and give me some suggestions on how you think it should be buffed.

  • people who say that this weapon is really good annoy me. They say to just train with it, and it will become the best weapon ever. But the whole point is that exotics shouldn't need any training to be classified as good. Plus, a gun that is downright terrible, or plain OP depending on the player is definitely a broken weapon that needs fixing.

  • My idea. No lens flare. Boost impact to be comparable to Longbow/LDR Change the exotic perk to - precision hits greatly increase bolt speed and grant bonus damage briefly. My thoughts on the exotic perk are that a precision shot should make your next shot be a OHKO to the body or at least close. The bolt speed mechanic would make it so that if you keep hitting headshots you can fire at a higher rate and it could be very powerful if you are very good with it. Also it would make it decent for boss DPS in PvE. It would make for an interesting weapon because once you hit a headshot then you are given a choice to OHKO someone to the body or go for another headshot to keep chaining kills and you would have to think tactically about what to aim for. Replace mulligan with performance bonus Reduce the zoom so that it is close to hand cannon zoom. In light of the functionality of my proposed exotic perk I would say that they should remove the current glitch that increases fire rate.

      All I think it needs is the odd handicaps on ROF and Impact removed (Agree with fieldscout but uneeded).... Perks don't matter so much if they could make it competitive with other snipers. But, UR and NLB should be changed a bit, (look at Vex it not really a fusion) while I think UR should shoot slugs, I had a hard time figuring out what could make NLB different from other snipers... (what came to mind would be replace mulligan with hipfire, and give NLB a hip cursor, no other sniper is like that :P) Keep in mind, if the handicaps on the ROF and impact were removed, and a slightly higher reserve, this weapon would not need other changes to be fun and competitive (and useful in PvE) Anything else changing the gun that I mentioned would just be a bonus ontop

        • Extremely well thought out and realistic ideas for "No Land Beyond" PvE buff if you ask me!! I only disagree with the damage increase per bullet. I think if they boost the fire rate and speed up the bolt animation then this gun would do great DPS, enough to make up for the lowish damage. Especially in the hands of a skilled sniper.

          • I like it but I dissagree with the buff idea around impact and ap/explosive ammo, they couldn't buff the damage as high as you would like because then aps would become a OHK. In the same manner explosive ammo would make the damage split in half to people around the victim thus making them have extremely low health and making most weapons OHK them if the NLB didn't get them first other than that the idea seems really solid, the only thing I would like is the irons get fixed and the ammo size get increased

          • Definitely needs some work, i agree. Probably the least used exotic, unless of course, i am wrong and its used as a handicap type thing by skilled players. I very rarely see it anyway. I remember begging for a bolt action, and i loved the look f the gun, but using it, was a complete letdown

            • Love these ideas: finally got around to playing with the NLB I got, and while at first I was frustrated, I kept at it and now I can usually go positive with it, without relying too much on my special, heavy or super to make up the kills. I find it a challenge because I am generally terrible with snipers to begin with, but I find it satisfying to get that First Kill with the NLB. :) But yeah, no scope glint would be nice, and slightly less zoom when ADS. Regenerating ammo might be good too, or a magazine that can hold more rounds.

            • my suggestion: weapon flare: agreed that it shouldnt even exist on an iron sight...if they wont get rid of it at least make it less noticable. weapon dmg: no....it doesnt need more dmg, it needs its crit dmg fixed (3.5 to 7.5 lik other snipers) i feel this is a bug since its in a primary slot and they havent gotten around to fixing it yet ammo: honestly ammo was never an issue with this gun (unless you miss alot then well...) an extra 6 shots would be fine but having 24 shots is unecessary for a gun you should be getting headshots with in fact i feel most snipers needs ammo total reduction (IE praedyths revenge and anything else reaching 24 shots). The Master: this buff should have the reload speed increase if you get a headshot rather than dmg increase considering its slow reload and the fact its already got a precision dmg increase to begin with. the crit fix would make this buff useless. Aside from all this, I dont want this to be another "red death 2.0" to turn into a "suros regime 2.0" if you get my drift. Small perks that i suggested above will bring it in line with other snipers and make it slightly viable enough for those niched people types. It shouldnt be however a go to sniper (ice breaker).

                No land beyond should get better iron sights and a one hit kill. They should make it a hard to use weapon that takes skill like the Kraber ap sniper in Titanfall.

                • With as much player hate as it gets NLB should get a buff eventually. I really hope they do something about UR too. Why do primary secondary exotics have to suck? Isn't the point of playing them because you like the playstyle of that weapon?

                  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-automatic_firearm this is why I do not understand why no land beyond is not a semi automatic the first ever semi automatic (self loading) bolt action rifle (have to use a bolt slide to load initial round into the chamber before the action of firing a round places the next round in the chamber for you, usually fed from a magazine) was designed and created by a german-born gunsmith named Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher (his name is pronounced manlicker the ch makes more of a phlegm noise, but still) in the year 1885 hence the Mannlicher M1885 designation.....if NLB is trying to capture the feeling of a WW1 or WW2 bolt action rifle it should be referencing any that have a semiauto feel, pull the slide back only on the first round, and be able to fire off 5-10 rounds before reload.....goddammit

                      • Half the animation time Make the impact close to a 1 hit kill (PvP) Range is fine Stability isn't an issue Reload - could be increased by about 10% Magazine - fine Mulligan replaced with unflinching The master - increased precision damage. Kills increase damage against next target, grant a shot directly to the chamber (no animation) which deals damage respective to the element of your subclass. (Can't stack)

                      • I would make the Master perk give the gun ALL three burns. Solar, arc AND void damage. That should make it a little more sexy for PvE. I think it is fine in PvP. U use it all the time and it is a fun and rewarding gun. A little boost to the bolt action animation would be nice though.

                          I don't agree. I think all it need is a small boost to damage and have the lenses glare renoved. PS this gun is probably firing a fifty cal bullet. If you have ever tried pulling the bolt on a Barrett fifty cal you would know that that is just about as fast as you can pull it.
