Strike Mission AFK'er Debacle

Can we please implement an AFK/vote kick system to combat this? the in-game "report system" is rather completely useless and just for looks / random buttons to press for shits and giggles. I've been very patient with the issue, but now it's just ridiculous. FIVE strikes in a row today, me and my friend were paired with someone AFK. Seriously? Sure you can say "Just leave and look for a new group." But that is a complete waste of time having to constantly warp out to orbit, search for another player, load in another session, and pray to whoever that the new person will be active. That is not something to just shrug off, and be "ok" with. After a while we just gave up and ran a strike all the way through with someone that was AFK. The guy that AFK'd had the -blam!-ing nerve to message me after saying, "Thanks for the carry :) " I've never played any game with matchmaking before, that has had so many blatant AFK'ers, that actually let them get away with it so easily. And with zero repercussion. Anyone else encountering all of these people? [b]EDIT[/b]: I appreciate all input guys. Your time is valued, and I like to see other angles on the matter.

  • I agree with an earlier comment that being able to boot someone from a strike would lead to abuse of it, mainly from people kicking others for fun. As it is now, I think someone get kicked automatically if they don't move for 10-15 minutes. Shortening that time to maybe 5 minutes max may work better.

  • I was playing strikes with a friend when "AFK"Dr was put in our team...fought our way all the way to archon priest, still not moving. Sent him a message to help no response. Team mate sent a messageno response so I ran back to beginning to see him running into cliff (rubber band technique) decided to drive him nuts 20 minutes no progress on our part...finally get return message saying what's the problem should be easy. I run with him to the end an watch him (try) to kill priest and die, he promptly revives and we decide if he dies again to kill ourselves to reset progress. Needless to say he dies again and we run towards him and right over edge. Great humor to watch him struggle.LOL😁

    • Sometimes i'm afk for a min or two and then when i come back no the others leave the match and I end up doing the strike alone.

    • Easy solution: die in a darkness zone. They respawn back in there with you. If ur doing bounties then just pick a strike from the planet.

    • Yes. How is this still an issue? Wtf are Bungie doing? The time out they added doesn't even work, killed omnigul earlier AFKer stood at the spawn pt the entire strike. The inactivity kick should be 5mins max.

    • If there was a boot system, it would be abused. People would boot just to be jerks. Not a viable solution. I don't understand why this bothers people so much. I don't do it myself, but I couldn't care less what randoms in my fireteam are doing. Play your game for the love of the game or the grind, or whatever. Your life will be much less stressful if you stop worrying about what everyone else is doing.

    • I invited someone on my friends list to join me on a weekly. Then invited someonelse too. The both came. The first one was freeloading. Would move every once in a while to not get kicked stayed back and did nothing. The latter was a couple mins late but still got ahead of him. Guess what? I booted that tool and asked someonelse to join.

      • Was running omnigol yesterday. Afk'er would lay back then run up then lay back. I tried pushing him to see if they really were there or not. NOPE! Push the person all the way into the open at omnigol. lol' d at how fast that person died was she summoned the next the next wave of adds. Btw, I lead in kills and assists and didn't die :P don't need to just lay back to get that bounty

      • Every third game has an idler for me on average. Both me and my mate report them. They left a few times but I don't know if it was a kick or they just left. We power run strikes so it doesn't take long which I think is quicker then the inactive boot.

        • Bump..I hate this,there should be a afc button on the report,it then counts down 4 mins and then boots if they havnt returned and killed something,what'd the point in playing a game and not playing it..I report everyone that follows me and doesn't kill anything..scum of the gaming community

        • Just set up a fire team, no more randoms :) I don't mind a little afk, having kids I need to go and sort stuff out from time to time (usually a few mins) so u realise other people also have a life and responsibilities. I wouldn't mind If I had to go for longer being kekd. Having said that, The nobs who are clearly there but have snapped TV or another game but are there just to get blue engrams really piss me off too!

          • I think there should be an afk timer of 2 or 3 mins. After that a vote kick option appears for that player

          • I don't like the vote kick idea.. Some people will just be asses and boot people right at the end.. The inactivity timer needs to be like 2 minutes or something.. If you don't move then your booted or if you get too far behind your booted

            • How about this; if said player is afk for a certain amount of time/ doesn't kill enemies, then. Their loot chances get dropped to 0%?

              • What I do is summon my sparrow and ram him/her into a wall or turn my sparrow sideways and guide said person into enemy controlled area and watch him/her die and revive and repeat. It's quite the laugh.

Another positive feature of this is AFKers will sit in there own strike for hours or until they get kicked for inactivity, thus ending their search for continuous games. An "inactivity timer" can easily stop other active searching players to not pair up with them. On the same note, if you were a victim of this feature by someone trolling, as long as you continued your strike, searching players should still eventually pair up with you. Nobody gets banned, nobody gets a penalty. Its an easy, non-offending way to STOP their character from playing AFK games. You DONT lose progress in your strike, and you DONT waste time reloading a new strike. If decides to break-away during boss fights to invite friends or "abuse" the feature, the individual(s) who leave should be subjectted to having the boss's health bar reset. Any comments to make this better? [spoiler]HA... Gotcha![/spoiler]
