So to me it is kinda of frustrating that the factions do not matter to the game aside from just having another vendor to buy items. I was thinking that they should have bigger factions that have a little story behind them and actually mean something.
So imagine you've been playing solo for a few days/weeks what have you and now you have completed the main story. You might not have many friends that play Destiny and maybe do not feel like extra work separately looking online for raid groups. When you notice a few people with similar emblems (or something else symbolic) all traveling together.
I'm imagining a guild. You can only choose one at a time; and by doing certain bounties/quests/ or whatever you get admission, maybe even with pre-requisites.
Each guild would have access their own unique vendors and access to unique items/gear. Especially visual. ( when you look at someone character in game I want to be able to recognize the "type" of armor they have) guilds can have their own special events, common areas, Etc the potential is huge for diversity. You can have huge pvp clan wars, maybe a pvp planet (like iron banner where gear/lvl makes a big impact).
You can utilize a guild chat to find fire team members to raid the vault or Crota's end. Maybe even doing a raid with all guild members will post a score for your guild or xp bonus.
And I feel the planets would be so much more less grinding if there was a town area on each with unique Guilds. This is a basic idea I haven't even been able to list what the potential could be. I would love to randomly see a fellow guild member on Mars or venus and start taking out baddies together.
