DLC and locking out content

Ok so this weekend I sprinted onto destiny to check out what Xur had to offer. I noticed it was all DLC items apart from the gauntlet engram, and was a little disheartened. I don't see why they couldn't have half DLC items for sale and half from the base game but whatever. I then came onto destiny today looking to do the daily, that was locked out too. A mission I'd normally be able to do has been locked behind a £20 wall. Not to mention the Weekly has required the DLC too, so my favourite way to get strange coins is inaccessible too. I feel all this could be solved by having a separate set of missions with their own rewards for people with the dlc, but instead they're thrown together and now my left side of the screen consists of "Expansion Required" in bold red like I'm an unworthy peasant who's refused entry to the party everyone's having fun in. I see people saying £20 isn't a lot and that we should "support the developers" by purchasing it. Firstly £20 is a lot and could easily buy me another fully complete video game like alien isolation, evil within or lords of the fallen. Secondly, why should we support such shitty practices and cave into buying dlc with such little content to begin with. It seems like Bungie gets a free pass just because they're Bungie. I apologise if this subject has been beaten to death, but I just wanted to get this off my chest.

  • I totally agree. I did the same thing and was equally appalled. They are taking features away from loyal customers all in an effort to make us squeeze out another 20-30bucks. I already dropped 70 bucks on this thing, I'm not interested in dropping down more cash just for a couple extra weapons and one level. It's not worth the price in my opinion. But what I am interested in is playing the content and features that were originally advertised and were there when I bought the game. Is that so much to ask? To be able to play the game I paid for? And not have parts of it locked away? I feel like if they are going to take things away perhaps they should give some of my money back.. Give and take... It's a kin to playing Super Mario and then Nintendo suddenly taking all the mushrooms out of the game unless you pay extra. It's Bullshit!
