I keep seeing it said about the raids. Does it mean every person in the fireteam gets to certain point then disbands? Don't you do the entire raid? Does every person in the fireteam have a checkpoint or just the fireteam leader? Why would a group of six not complete the raid?
Things I'm pondering! I've yet to do a raid so I'm not sure!

Edited by sXeth: 12/21/2014 5:36:29 PMSometimes things just don't go well and you don't finish, and if you aren't with a clan and used forums/destinylfg/etc you may need a new party to finish another day. Other folks like to swap in their toons to get favorite checkpoints (often the lucrative) parts of the Raid done as a priority Admittedly a bit of cheese, but symptomatic of poor reward dispersal. I'd rather do that and beat Crota on all my guys, then do the Abyss and Bridge after, and skip the Deathsinger as much as possible since they didn't bother putting a reward on that segment. Similarly, the Oracle checkpoint in Vault of Glass gives you a quick run at 4-6 loot drops, while skipping two timed (and kind of bland) defense segments.

Edited by xEmperorAzazelx: 12/21/2014 5:29:22 PMWhen a fire team goes into a raid every cp they complete they get that cp saved. So say you get to atheon or crota but 3 of your teammates have to leave, you can come back anytime before the weekly reset and finish from your cp. Different cps also drop different prizes. So if you have all the raid gear but only need the Vex Mythoclast. You may just want to go in forums and go into a atheon cp. So they are useful
-
I only do the hard atheon cp in hopes of getting a mythoclast.

All players get the furthest checkpoint they got to in a raid. Sometimes a team just doesn't glue and can't beat, say, Crota or Atheon. If the team disbands, as you say, and can't organize to try together again, you have the checkpoint to try and beat it with someone else.
-
You get checkpoints at certain parts in the raid and if you don't finish for whatever reason say you have to go somewhere or something you can start again at the farthest checkpoint you've got, also if you don't have a raid team that you always do raids with and your teaming up with randoms alot of times those randoms suck so you end up having to leave because they keep -blam!-ing up and you end up wiping over and over
-
Since the raids can be long, there are checkpoints along the way, that way you don't restart if something comes up half way through.

Woa oh retard alert class dingalingaling!!!

I need help.. I can't get past this point..
-
Its because some people suck and cant complete certain parts of the raid, so they ask if someone has a checkpoint saved further along in the raid. The sucky person will join the lobby that is further along in the raid, the game will give the sucky person a new checkpoint further along that where they were able to get before. Asking for checkpoints = noobs piggybacking off of someone else's hard work.
-
Raids could take awhile sometimes and people might have to come and go. There's nothing negative about asking for checkpoints. People have lives.
-
Also do the raids have a burn like nightfalls?
-
It means they are at a certain point in the raid already. They get to start from a certain point (like in the middle) as opposed to having to start from the beginning. If I had atheon checkpoint, if I loaded up the raid I would automatically go straight to the final boss fight.
-
The raid leader who was in the raid up to a certain point (usually after each section) will have a checkpoint or save. Because the raid can take a while it allows groups to carry on another time but only saved to the leader of the fireteam. Therefore the leader can take other players if they so wish to carry on.

Edited by EE: 12/21/2014 2:29:03 PMThere aren't burns on the raid. And this is how checkpoints work: If you have gotten to a certain part in the raid (even if you just joined someone else's), you will have a checkpoint at the furthest part in the raid that you've been to. When you're the fireteam leader, this is where you start when you launch a raid. The progress resets on completion (killing the last boss). It also resets every Tuesday, and you can manually reset progress (wipe your checkpoint) when you're selecting the raid in orbit.
