Destiny is the biggest let down of 2014, is destiny living up to expectations?
edit: people dont understand the difference from what was shown at e3 and talked about constantly to what the game is now..
Story is garbage, too much wrong with it talk about.
Strikes are boring and repetitive, theyre shoudlve been new strikes for free on a regular basis.
crucible is broken since the flood of SUROS, fusions, and shotguns plus 6 man pub stomp crews against a random team.
iron banner is pointless especially because rewards suck ass, super should not be allowed.
raids are fun but do not apply if you are new to fps or havent played at a competitive level since CoD4 or HALO:CE
tower like areas shouldnt have been better integrated into the game and there shouldnt be only one.
the solar system is lacking with laughingly few playable areas.
farming for materials is... why.. it makes no sense for a game without a player economy
trading... where is it?????
quests.... where are they???? eris has like 2 quests... please.... thats a joke
better match making needs to be better...
more integrated clans and fireteams
where is the game you promised us

Expectations were the best game of all time. It hasn't lived up, but it is still AWESOME.

I had zero expectations from Destiny. I wasn't even going to buy it as it sounded so multiplayer centric, and I much prefer solo. In the end, I ordered it the day before release after reading an article written by someone who had the same reservations as me, but he recognised that Destiny might just be the Big New Thing and he didn't want to miss the boat. Now, Destiny may just be my favourite ever game. Like all games, it has its flaws. It can be very confusing (have we now reached double figures for different currencies?) and very frustrating (what are ascendant materials for if you have all new raid and exotic gear?), but when I think of the changes it's had on my gaming life, it's probably had the biggest impact out of every other game I've played. Maybe Football Manager would rival it... I would never play online previously. The thought of having to talk to randoms was off putting. Now, I have a regular raid group that get together a couple times a week. I've spent a good few hours running around getting shot in Crucible. Destiny has been a major conversation topic during breaks at work for 3 months now, and these forums are my usual toilet-time filler.. :oD I'll often go to bed at night thinking about the game, and I've even had a couple of arguments with my girlfriend over the amount of time I'm spending on it! According to my stats, I've played the game for 238 hours. I'm guessing that doesn't include Tower time, loading screens etc, so it's probably closer to 300. All in all, Destiny has completely gone above and beyond my expectations. That doesn't mean I think it's a perfect game - there's so many changes I want Bungie to make (although they're lack of communication with their community doesn't fill me with confidence in them), but for me, it's an excellent start and I'll be around for a while yet.

I agree it could have been so much more, but I'm enjoying my time playing it a lot. It's a strangely addicting game. I'm just so obsessed with getting cool armor, weapons, ships, and shaders.

The marketing for today's major AAA games seem to be more about pouring money into advertising and generating as much hype as humanly possible as opposed to carefully crafting a quality product.

I voted no but I love this game, it just doesn't live up to the expectations I had for it coming in after seeing the E3 2013 footage, all the vidoc stuff and the build up from the press I was expecting more... But it is still a damn good game, which has stopped me from playing any of the other games I bought recently

The game promised at E3 is not the game we are playing. I remember "Fully Customisable" and "You can explore every part of what you can see" and that's only two of what I remember from the vid ... ALL LIES!

2 RepliesDestiny is an odd game and not in the best sense, you see some brilliance in the concept but the execution of everything beyond the graphics and tight controls is both bad and saddled with nonsensical design choices. Its a single player game with a coop component that in no way requires the game to be always online other than to bore you with constant matchmaking. Do we really need to se people doing their thing on the tower and on the field? No and neither we need to be online to play other than the raid and the crucible. If you think about it a bit this game provides the same amount of player interaction as Dark Souls which does not have an online requirement.

Live up to it's hype? Nah. Do I still like it? Yeah, it entertains me. Anyway, I think Watch Dogs was much worse.

Destiny is ok and can be fun but it just looks like Bungie are relying too much on the need to grind to keep things going the guy who was doing the story apparently left which could have been due to last minute changes which he didn't like, basically they messed up the story, could be failvisions fault then there is what is lacking from that gameplay video back in 2013 (huge open world, ships flying in, story line, awesome graphics, ect) which is understandable with the date, what they developed on and the suckish devices we were sold later that year

The story has been terrible and it desperately needs more matchmaking but I honestly didnt expect to be playing it as much as I do.
