A Letter to the Christmas Noobs

To our Christmas noobs soon to come. You are our Destiny gamers you have joined us through the gift giving of destiny. Expect to see guardians of a much higher level, expect to hear unfamiliar slang invented by the vast community of already existing destiny players, fans, casual and some somewhat professional. I am A Knights Tail, an Australian gamer on XBox One, here to give you a guide and provide you with some now general knowledge that we had to work out for ourselves. First thing to note is that destiny is in no way finished when your character reaches level 20. At this point you stop earning experience to level up, do not be mistaken, experience gains at this stage of your adventures will be going into your weapons to make the stronger, your armor as you create your legend and into your class abilities. Speaking of weapons, to start with all your weapons will deal kinetic damage, us you and your guardian create your legend you may very well acquire a vast arsenal of weapons, weapon types and damage types. As you continue to progress you will find and see weapons that deal solar (orange in colour), arc (blue in colour) and void (purple in colour) weapon damage types. These weapons have a greater use than looking cool weapon a shot is fired. You will cross enemies with shields, golden health bars and your everyday epic boss fights. These shields when damaged will glow, if you match the colour of the shield with the weapon damage type (Solar, arc and void) you will notice a greater effectiveness in disabling your opponents shield. However just like your shield, if you give them long enough, their shield will regenerate. Other things to note include versing opponents above your level, versing an opponent with a question mark for its level is not a wise opponent to taunt, you will not be able to perform any damage against them. Enemies 4 levels higher than you will become progressively more challenging and enemies 3+ will start to one shot you. In the crucible (the pvp arena) character levels are insignificant, weapon base damage is balanced by the weapons stats in relation to other weapons and super moves are still quite powerful and when mastered become quite useful. In the crucible other guardians become your competition and your enemies. And what to do with your spoils, after reaching level 20 you will start earning reputation for the different vendors in the tower, and by completing events such as strikes from the strike play list and competing in the crucible will reward you with marks. These marks will allow you to purchase the higher level gear put on display by the different vendors in the tower. These days letters of commendation are also required for the purchase of high level weapons, and some armor. Along with this knowledge there are also 7 other vendors to be aware of which 3 you may never visit often, one you will come to despise, one may become a close friend, one is new, one is quite important for your latter gamer progression and the last comes with special events such as the Iron Banner (special PvP event where level and weapons matter), and the Queens Wrath. The 3 you may rarely visit; The Speaker, he sells character emblems and class items, and then in the area we also have the shader vendor selling nothing important or necessary, and then we have the ship wright selling spacecrafts and speeder bikes. Rahool the Cryptarch may quickly become a vendor you visit often and come to despise as he almost never gives you that which you hope to obtain. The Gunsmith in your early game progression should be the richest vendor there is, he sells weapon that can come in handy when you're stuck with out of date weapons and are in need of an upgrade. Eris is a vendor you will see in the tower but to start with you will have nothing to do with her. And then the last one I will mention here is X'ur The Agent of Nine. He may very well drive you nuts but he is the only vendor selling us exotic weapons and armour, some you may very well find along your journey. If much of what i have said has not made a lot of sense when as you play the game man things will become clear. If you happen to be a Christmas Noob on Xbox One feel free to send me a message and I'll do the best that i can to help you out. In the mean time guys and gals guardians and those not yet born in the light, may you all have a Merry Christmas.
