The Crucible needs a ranking system.

Throughout my Destiny experience I have found no motivation to continue playing in the Crucible outside of the Iron Banner. Rep and mark gains are minimal in comparison to Vanguard, and considering how I don't have a lot of time to play I'd rather level up quickly and get good weapons fast so I can raid and such. So, I thought of an idea to motivate people to participate in the Crucible. 1. Introduce a ranking system This is kind of self-explanatory. Something simple like Halo's 1-50 system is good. 2. Implement rank-based matchmaking (Trueskill) Seriously, this is one of the most annoying things about the Crucible in my opinion. Many people do not play this because they aren't good at the Crucible, which doesn't make sense. I think I am better at the Crucible than I am at Vanguard things (Raids, Strikes) but I am only doing those Vanguard things. This would make it better for bad and good people. You know something is wrong when you have to have a 2.0 KD or something along the lines to be deemed good (which I don't have actually). 3. Scale the rewards with rank This fixes the slow progression relative to PvE problem. You want rep/marks faster? Get to higher ranks so that each win will give you more of them. Someone is going to say that this is not motivational for people who are not good at PvP, but this is basically the same as Nightfall/Raids. I know a lot of people struggled with Omnigull's strike with Arc Burn, and some gave up because it was too difficult. However, I got it done with two 29s and a 30 without using any good weapons other than a single Thunderlord. Basically, PvE rewards you for playing well, so PvP should too. An example of this would be, assuming Destiny adopts Halo's 1-50 ranks, at rank 25 players would receive 5 marks per win and 3 marks per loss. This increases to 6 marks per win and 4 per loss at rank 40. Rep could scale more precisely. This will promote excellence while making intentionally losing for lower ranks (I saw this a lot in Halo) less desirable, as losing AND lower ranks give worse rewards. 4. Add another Vendor This takes a bit of explaining. Assuming Halo's 1-50 ranking system, a guardian would only gain this rep (let's call it Legend so we can Become Legend) if he/she wins while at rank 50. This is difficult, since rank 50 will basically be for the best of the best. Not only does a guardian have to reach 50, but also they have to win against other 50s. The grind won't be that simple either; it could take a large sum of wins at 50 to get a usable amount of rep. What a guardian can buy using Legend rep is raid gear for Crucible marks + a Commendation for Helm/Chest as well as elemental primaries and top tier specials/heavies. These would be upgraded using normal Ascendant materials. Considering that getting Legend rep is much more difficult than completing a raid (pretty sure), I would say it is fair. This vendor would create an incentive for people to grind Crucible and actually become more skilled (as is the goal lore-wise). Those who perform exceptionally well will be rewarded with gear. If, lore-wise, the city has a limited stock of these items, it would only give them to the best to fight the Darkness. Yes, this means that performance in the Crucible will affect PvE, but as we all probably know PvE already has an effect on PvP. Most of the exotics/top tier guns are obtained from PvE methods. The people with the most guns have more options, which is an advantage. Overall, I think these changes/additions would make the Crucible more fun and rewarding while giving people who do well more than just a K/D to look at (because seriously, if you get the highest score you don't get anything). EDIT: My stance on Supers: I think Supers are fine but Orbs of Light are not. Supers are good as a free kill (sometimes more) that can be used strategically, especially in Control, but OoL lower the CD unnecessarily. They just give you back your super for no cost. Intellect also lowers the super CD, but at the cost of grenade CD or melee CD. OoL just drop at no cost. They don't even require teamwork. I can just run around and find random OoL on the ground, which is stupid. Lore-wise, OoL are stupid. You think Shaxx gives a flying fck whether we can throw a ball at the ground, or slam the ground and kill someone 20 feet away? He made the Crucible so Guardians can get better at gunplay. Guardians should be practicing aim, positioning, and decision-making. So supers are fine, but they shouldn't be up so often.
