The morale of the story is, I'm tired of seeing people say they want to ban all violent video games to protect the kids. Y'know why that argument is so -blam!-ing stupid? Y'know why that argument makes me want to flip my shit? Because ALL video games that you buy at a retailer store have ratings on the front of the box. It's to tell the parent the game isn't intended for children under the age of 18. I hate how all the old farts and generally everyone who never touched a controller are saying video games are making kids go insane and wanting to censor and ban them. After they go through all that, they never thought once that it's the parents fault for buying the game in the first place.

My son was reading before he started kindergarten. By the time he was in first grade, he was reading on a sixth grade level. Tell me how video games aren't good.

Yup, parents are being irresponsible. Once again.... In more recent news, Halo 5: Guardians Public Beta will be available for pre-loading @ 10:00am PCT

Science has shown a correlation between violence and children playing violent video games. It's because they have not reached the age of maturity activation. (which is 17 btw) they have not yet had the ability to perceive reality correctly. Which means they'll often think they are mature, but they really aren't. And they get angry and hostile when anybody says otherwise.

Edited by CurvedBubbles: 12/20/2014 6:10:29 PMMore and more studies are coming out that prove there is a correlation between violence and video game playing. Soooooo...

OMG she is a bad mother if she thinks her son is evil why did she buy him gtav
-
Ironically i was talking to someone about this and they said that their friend's 8 or 9 year old son asked for GTAV for Christmas. Be me - my mom didn't let me get fallout new Vegas for 2 years of persuading and begging.

I agree with this topic. People/parents should watch what they buy for their kids. Don't blame games for lack of understanding or because it's easier to point fingers. The rating is there for a reason and its always annoying to have little kids yelling and being obnoxious on a M rated game. I've been playing games for as long as I can remember and I'm not a crazed killer. It's just a game. -Sh3

>video games are violent >my son is violent >therefore, my son is a video game

Anybody who lets their kids play gta v. Not that I care if it is bad for them, it is just a pain in the ass spamming the mute button everytime I join a lobby.
-
I know I mean maybe if you won't except it's partly your fault, teach him maturity, like not beating someone up cuz there less popular, cuz now that kid you picked on put you in a wheelchair so don't be a jerk to the "weak" kid cuz I wasn't so weak- o and I'm a passefist who kicked your arse but does nothing but play violent games, so by there logic m games makes you peaceful so should we give everyone them- no that's not how it works- but I used your logic butthurt parents everywhere!

People are too soft these days.

My friend has played a lot of Mario Kart. He was banned from the game after spilling his juice box. His parents want to sue Nintendo for corrupting their child with their overly violent game.
-
Lol pegboy
-
exactly. I hate squeakers as much as the next gamer, but the fact is, they are only half the problem, the other half are the Dumbass parents that don't know how to say no to their kids.
-
My parents always checked the ratings on my games. Always. It was a nightmare just convincing them to let me play Halo.
-
Funny thing is DVDs do not have ratings on the front and games do. You don't have to touch a game to clearly see the rating. Games are just an easy target. Reality television is more impactful on today's youth than video games.
-
When I used to go to my old middle school for volunteer hours, several of the 6th and 7th graders there have played it. Do their parents even read the ratings?
-
TRUTH I hate it when I see parents buy their elementary-schoolers GTA or CoD or Halo, then I hear about how all these video games are making kids evil. MAYBE YA SHOULD'VE CHECKED THE RATING FIRST.

Edited by Forgotten: 12/21/2014 11:13:55 AM1. China tried banning video games, China failed at banning video games. China's government policies do not **** around including ones about video games or consoles. Due process to attempt such a thing in the USA is pointless and a waste of time+money. 2. Topics of the above are thus pointless because of the reason below. 3. Reason: Long term losses with little gains due to a progressive society. Extra examples/comparisons listed in the first sentence. 4. Follow points 1-3 or ignore all points except point "2." For a clear and concise evaluation of blah. P.S. Rag-doll cats are flufftastic.

I played GTA V for 15 mins, then afterwards I went out and stole a car and murdered an old lady. I agree ban games.
-
I played GTA Vice City at about 8/9 year old and I played CoD4 at 14... I haven't killed anyone.. yet

So are public schools

Played gta san andreas when I was 7 years old, because I had my uncle playing with me, and we would put some of the funniest cheat codes in, like the clown cheat code for example, I'm glad I got to play those games because its a huge part of my childhood. And I also played god of war actually, lol its all about having a good time while playing videogames. Ain't that what games are for?

Murderers sicken me. On GTA, I go on killing sprees. I would never kill anyone in real life. Anyone who says video games cause violence are stupid poop heads
