This happened last week on our first time beating Crota, Right after the raid came out. With all these cheap ways to exploit destiny's raids, bungie clearly needs a fix. But on top of those fixes for those exploits, things like this need to be fixed as well. We had just got done with our first burn of Crota with the Sword. A player needed the chalice so I went over to him and he took it. The second he grabbed the chalice, he got disconnected from the game due to an error code. The chalice unfortunately went with him. He came back after the first round of ogres but didn't bring the chalice with him. We adapted and overcame and ended up winning ( after myself and the guy capturing the game died ). It was tough. This was right when Crotas end came out so we hardly had the strategy down. I've still yet to see anyone else do this. The problem here is, disconnections happen from time to time. The chalice shouldn't disappear and nor should Crota stay on a knee ( for that stupid exploit ) I'm just posting this so it can be brought to attention before hard raid comes out.
