So, me and my friend have tested it. Red ping (poor connection players) have an absolute leg up on everyone.
We had him place his, already terrible, WiFi in a part of his house where the signal was even worse then usual.
As a non-PvP player, strictly PvE, he was...unstoppable. On my screen he was taking no damage and "blinking" without even blinking. On his screen he said it was smooth and even said he was taking almost no damage.
His only deaths came from being fired on by mutiple guys for a duration.
1v1 tho...he couldnt be damaged enough to lose.
Secondary weapons (shotguns) he was able to sustain dmg (not take any) and close the gap for OHK's.
So yeah, its a joke.
75% of players in Crucible/IB have yellow/red connections and get a superman sheild from it with little (none) drawback.
Why should one even try to be competitive?
I'm far from the best Crucible player but now I'm just in it for the marks and rep, no longet caring much about points/kills/deaths/wins etc..
Thinking I might call my broadband and ask for the welfare package.
Maybe let a gerbil gnaw on my ethernet cable.
Maybe when I go to play disconnect my hardline, put the router in the basement, connect via terrible WiFi, then play Destiny.
