Destiny 2.0

Not a long intro, just things I think would help improve Destiny. 1. Remove light from gear Gear should not hold onto a level gaining stat. Light should be earned from playing and earning experience. Gear should not determine your level. Gear should have build changing perks on it, to help craft the kind of hero you want to play with. Right now no other stat matters other than light. I have a chest piece that gives me more auto rifle and shotgun ammo, but it's 36 light so I guess I am stuck with 2 perks I don't use. Edit: Some people like light in gear, I am one of those people but I think having 1 stat to rule them all is bad design. Maybe light could stay if other stats played a bigger role. Thinking of WOW with gear rating, light could be part of that gear rating along with other things to make light not the number 1 stat you care about. 2. New leveling system Leveling from 1-20 feels great. You see how much experience you need to your next level, you grind experience, level up and then feel good about the progress you made. After 20, it is just blind luck. You can grind rep from factions to buy better gear but when you get a better piece of gear your level goes down. My suggestion is this, use motes of light to level your character up. 21 - 1 mote of light 22 - 2 motes of light 23 - 3 motes of light 24 - 4 motes of light etc Motes would only be earned from gaining experience and getting a mote. Motes wouldn't be given for items or random rewards. Motes of light would stopped being earned at level cap. 3. Make classes matter Each class should have a unique trait to them(other than supers). Some of the things I have thought of, Titans - Take 30% reduced damage, 5% slower move speed Hunter - Deal 20% more damage, 20% faster move speed Warlock - Deal 5% more damage, improve super and abilities(grenades, melee) 25% faster 4. Make class items useful Give each class item something useful to them. Right now they look cool, but it is the biggest disappointment when you get that over a new armor or weapon item. If the class items contained something that made them useful it would be rewarding getting them. -Take 5% reduced damage -Move 5% faster -Earn 5% more experience -Reload faster -Hold additional ammo -Drop ammo(primary, special or heavy) more often -Take no fall damage 5. Make gear stand out Right now gear is just okay. They give you one or two things, and than is about it. Depending on the level of gear should give you more perks. Common - 0 perks Green - 1 perk Rare - 2 perks Legendary - 3 perks Raid - 4 perks Exotic - 5 perks Using this, makes armor seem a lot better. You could keep a majority of the current perks and make some specific class ones like we see in some exotics. Class abilities wouldn't only be tied into exotics though, you could have a class ability in any grade of item. 6. More class specific upgrade perks Since I am a Titan I can only speak for my class. -Defender bubble last forever until bubble is destroyed by damage. Bubble health is reduced by 20%. -Improve the height of your jet pack by 30% -Shoulder charge, charges up 50% faster and deals 10% less damage -Take less damage from elemental damage -Fist of havoc now grants a temporary buff for all allies in the blast radius(more damage/over shield). -Killing 8 enemies with fist of havoc resets it cool down -Killing 2 or more enemies with 1 melee punch resets the cool down -Defender bubble now can be shot through(both sides), but reduces damage by 75% 7. Remove hip fire penalty Halo was amazing because you didn't need to aim down the sight(ADS) to kill things. In Destiny, ADS ruins a lot of the experience. When I am using my LMG or pulse rifle, ADS is the last thing I want to do with those guns. I just want to fire from the hip and not deal 20% less damage because of it. ADS should only help you land head shots and aim at specific areas you need to target with precision. Edit: Some people are saying there is no hip fire penalty. I will have to fully test this later, but I swear I do less damage when I fire from the hip. Mainly I want to remove the bloom effect when firing the weapon so head shots can happen without the need to ADS. 8. More PVP modes -Capture the Flag -Doubles -Oddball -King of the Hill -1 Flag -Territories Hell I think you get the idea. You guys made a lot of these playlist when making Halo. I know you have more ideas. Just put them into the game. 9. View rep in menus I just want to see what my current ranks are when I am flying in orbit. I think this is pretty simple to add. 10. Raid tokens Instead of new materials, RNG and all this nonsense. Just keep the RNG the way it is, and drop raid tokens after each encounter completed. Then a vendor could sell raid items for X amount of raid tokens. 1 Raid token in chests 2 Raid token for each event completed 3 Raid token for killing bosses 5 Raid tokens for completing the raid(all bosses and mini events completed) Gloves 8 Raid tokens Boots 8 Raid tokens Helmets - 12 Raid tokens Chest 12 Raid tokens 11. Upgrade old weapons/armor Weapons and armor should be able to be upgraded from previous versions of Destiny, but at a much high cost and a slight reduced value. If you fully upgraded a weapon and it cost 1200 glimmer, 16 ascendant materials, 80 planet materials, it should cost half of all that to upgrade it to the next version. You will get it fully upgraded, so no grinding experience leveling it up again. Old version - New version Fully upgraded - 50% of previous materials need to upgrade to next level 90% upgraded - 55% of previous materials needed to upgrade 50% upgraded - 75% of previous materials needed to upgrade 10% upgraded - 95 % of previous materials needed to upgrade 0% upgraded - 100% of previous materials needed to upgrade 12. Heroic Patrols -All enemies are now level 24, 26, 28, 30, 32 -Bonus Experience and Rep(10%, 12%, 15%, 20%, 25%) -Planet Materials are earned for completing patrols(3, 5, 7, 10, 15) 13. Raid Patrols -Sparrow link is broken -Fire team of 6 required -Enemies are now level 30-33 -Missions are given once the team touches down on the surface -Rare enemies now spawn with each group of enemies -Enemies spawn in greater numbers -High level bosses guard the entrance to new areas -Missions types include ---Defend an area ---Sabotage something ---Retrieve an item and bring it back to the starting zone ---Escort ---Kill this boss ---Kill X amount of enemies before timer runs out These raid patrols would be a fun and interesting thing for groups of friends to do. They would give you a good reward at the end, and could be done multiple time during the week. They would be harder and more organic then a typical strike mission since you could go to any planet and have one of several different mission objectives. Sparrows would be broken because it would make it so you couldn't just zip through to the objective and it would force you to have to fight your way to the area. Also, your raid patrols would be instanced to only your fire team. 14. More faction warfare If I choose to rank up with Future War Cult(FWC) and you pick Dead Orbit we should get more bounties/patrol mission that are specific to out faction. You should also gain some rep in PVP when you kill someone who is wearing a different faction banner. You should only be allowed to pick sides with one faction. Once you hit rank 1 with a specific faction you should be locked into that faction. ***12/17/2014*** Thanks for all the feedback and support(even the people who hated this). Hopefully Bungie is already working ideas like this or better. All I really want is more and have tried to think of ways that Bungie could implement more into the game without the need to really do a whole lot of extra work.
