An idea for improving the light system.

Yes, this is a good idea

Maybe, but I'll comment below on an improvement

No, the current light systems is better

I've read a lot of complaints about the light system destiny since it came out, and even more since the expansion. Many people are suggesting we scrap the light system, others suggest not only scraping it but also removing the concept of an over leveling system from destiny. The desire to scrap the light system seems to steam from 2 things: 1) The dependency on "RNGesus" in both -Finding gear -Upgrading gear 2) The evolving Light Cap (which is nessecary to keep the grind relavent) With that all said, I believe I have a solution to the 75% of the problem. What if armour had a slot which held an orb (or whatever you want to call this item) that could be removed and replaced with the "next gen" orb when the new expansion came out. Your "VoG" raid armour would remain fully upgraded but be brought up to the new standard with a new orb til you found the Dark Below raid armour, and then you could do the same for the next set of raid gear. The same concept could apply to Exotic weapons and armour. Rather than upgrading them with Xur, just farm an orb from the wild or purchase it from Xur. No need to re-level your gear and hunt for resources. Past gear remains relevant and useful.

  • see if you did that you are doing what all the idiot want and taking the gear that (yes you worked hard for) that put you to 30 and instantly releveling it to the new light cap the whole idea behind the light system is to force you to try new things to get armor as soon as you can so that you are ready to storm the raid and get the new stuff and if you were level 30 at dlc launch you were already able to go straight into the raid and start getting your new raid gear. this idea is only thought through from a butthurt perspective of someone upset that once they hit the top now they have to work again to get that level. ive only ever had the opportunity to do the vault of glass twice, once i got a piece of raid gear and post dlc i can actually start to get up there in the ranks again. the light system at the moment gives all players equal footing, and people like you who had all raid gear and the best weapons in the game are the only ones complaining that it isnt done right. the only aspect of the upgrade system that i will agree wasnt done correctly is the upgrades from xur and thats only because they are far too expensive for the casual player to be able to upgrade all his exotics in a timely fashion. stop complaining because you have to do something.
