Vault of Glass is Dead, Correct me if I'm wrong
I think I did my last VoG run yesterday... there really is no reason to run it any longer. I did it for an Ascendant Mat run and got the 6 shards I needed to lvl my 33 light bracers. Now there is really no reason to run it. I have a crap ton of Ascendant Energy, all the legendary drops are no longer viable as top tier, even the exotic drops are last season still, raid armor is worthless. I am what you would consider a hard core casual gamer, playing more than a normal person but not hours every day, and it really bums me out that this huge piece of content is now irrelevant 1 week after DLC, honestly I never ran hard mode and I don't see a reason now... I guess there is Mythoclast to still get, but IDK if that is worth putting together a full raid for every week.
What is even worse is trying to wrap my head around Bungie's longterm Tiered upgrade strategy... at the current path on the next DLC all of the Vendor Light LVL 33 gear will be purchaseable, which will be legendary and require Ascendants... which means you can just go do a LVL 30 Hard Mode VoG one time and have everything you need for upgrades most likely... or they come up with yet ANOTHER upgrade material? This game is kind of turning into a cluster -blam!- IMO.

run it for upgrade mats since most drops get broken down run it for a potential two exotics run it for practice, if you can't handle atheon I don't want to see you on a crota run

Chance at Exotics (300, yes; better than nothing) Shards/Energy to upgrade your non-raid legendary gear (Vendor weapons max at 331 just like Raid weapons...[OR] Anyone else build a specific PvP set with JUST the perks you want?) Awesome Elemental Primaries from Hard-Mode (Wreck that Arc/Void/Solar Burn Weekly Strike) You could still run it, and it wouldn't necessarily be a total waste of time. I think that's up to each individual!

5 RepliesThe worst part is, that the new raid sucks!!! Haven't finished Croat yet, but anyway what I played so far was not really that much fun as VoG is/was. I just started raids a few weeks back and now it's already a fading part of the game for me... Trying to get fatebringer is really the only thing to do now.

1 ReplyOccasionally, I hop into random parties that are doing the aetheon kill. Other than that, I don't bother wasting time running the whole thing. Even if I get a chance at exotics, I'd rather do the strike play list. In addition, you don't get experience in VOG. Ever since Crota, I believe majority of us are leveling our new and old weapons. And it takes a long process.

There are new players coming in who will have to run it for materials. I also need to run it on alt characters to get materials to level them up. I always got energy, barely any shards so I don't have nearly as many.

For persons in your situation, and mine, having already maxed out all your raid gear, then yes, it is irrelevant. As suggested below, it might be good to run it for old version exotics in hopes that Xur will sell an upgrade later down the line. But you're right, once you've upgraded all your legendary vendor or raid gear, there is no need to go into the vault, unless you find legendary gear with a better stat roll. Of course, based on your post, I assume you have plenty of ascended materials stocked up. it's incredibly sad that Bungie has castrated themselves this way.

Get exotic, trade with xur. I've got new armour on all my 3 chars but firstly you can get exotic drops you can trade eventually. If not it's an exotic shard. Either way there is that. If you haven't got fate bringer you need that and the vex is still awesome. I've got all of that but I do quite enjoy the vog tbh

2 RepliesI got gjallarhorn last night from atheon and it had the old attack rating on it. Was not even the teir two version. So yes i would say it is totally worthless.

If I run VoG at all anymore it will only be for the exotic chest and Atheon. I have all the other raid gear and I won't attempt getting them again unless they update the damage on the weapons. I'd love a new Fatebringer with 331 damage. Fatebringer still my favorite weapon in Destiny.

It's virtual art built by capitalist developers to swindle us out of our money and time in exchange for escapism and fantasy. Perhaps you could try getting your mind off your perceived goals and values to enjoy the content for what it is. Discovery can take place among familiar things. Try reexamining your everyday world and perhaps you will find something extraordinary.

I got praetorian foil last night. A weapon I had wanted for a long time.... Now it isn't even worth using. Such a shame.
