English isn't my first language or even the second. And I know my limitations when I speak it. I, however, can point out mistakes, poor grammar and typos in everything I read, or hear.
The cannibalism perk reads, "The Husk exudes a sense of sinister satisfaction when used to expire it's former allies." Now, shouldn't that be "its?" —the possessive form of it.

Hotfix "The one about grammar"
-
I can see it now, this weeks update. We fixed the poor grammar in the description of "Pit of the Husk". Thanks for the feedback guys. See you next week
-
I have definitive proof that "its" was cut from the prealpha and they are planning to sell it as DLC. ITS ON THE DISC IT SHOULD BE FREE!
-
Nerf it!
-
This is'nt Engrish class'
-
No, the ['s] depicts that it 'belongs' to the husk
-
For all who think they know... see this link...
-
Yep. If you see "it's" in a sentence then using "it is" should sound correct but in this case it should be "its".
-
Show's little attention to QA on their part...
-
Considering bungie's history with destiny so far. This may take a few weeks to fix.
-
OP is right. It's ok to to use it like this. Its reasoning is valid.
-
Bungie is so -blam!-ed

Edited by Chadoline: 12/18/2014 4:09:09 PMEnglish is tricky because not all rules always apply to all words at all given points in dictation. "It's" in this use is obviously not "It is." You have to relate it to the formal relation such as a name. So replacing "it's" with the name John (since "it's" is relating to a formal name, "Husk of the Pit") in this sentence would be "John's" former allies. You wouldn't say "John" former allies or Johns' former allies so this is the correct grammar and not a typo.

Edited by PhantomRavagor: 12/18/2014 4:57:27 PMCorrect, it should be "its".
-
Can't believe how many idiots posted stating that it's is both it is and possessive. What is this world coming to... it's = it is its = belonging to it. Bungie obviously does not have proof readers, you can tell by how many typos are in the weekly updates.
-
Good catch! Now Bungie has something else that's complete bullshit to post as a hot fix, instead of improving anything!
-
Common mistake as apostrophe is used in almost every other word to indicate possession (I.e. The book is my brother's). But not this one. The reason is that with most other words leaving the apostrophe out and just using -s indicates plural form not possessive. Pronouns don't have plural forms and therefore are used differently.
-
It's is possessive as well as short for it is
-
IM NOT TRYING TO START SHIT "it's" has two different meanings "It is" and It belongs to that person place or thing.
-
I returned my game over this. Its just not fair.
-
Got ya, but 'its' and 'it's' in this sense is somewhat debated. Still, I know. Either are acceptable tbh.
-
I got it last night here's how
-
Do you even lift bro ?
-
You're right it should be "its."
-
Nope. 'It's' is the possessive term showing ownership of one thing. If it were its' then there would be more than one thing having ownership.
-
Nice catch. You're right. Bungie QC dun goofed up. Ah well, we're all human.
