I see posts saying we need matchmaking for raids. This will not work and will lead to massive problems due to the way loot is given in raids. Ask yourself these questions regarding raid matchmaking:
What happens if someone lags out or quits? They are screwed?
Do you only matchmake for fresh start raids? If not where do I spawn in at to join?
What happens if I spawn in at a point where the chests and rewards were already given? No loot for you?
Couldn't your skip large parts of the raids looking to join sections to only get rewards?
If I random join a raid what happens if I just did this part? I don't want to beat Atheon again because I just did. I want gorgons maze so I just quit and rejoin again.
I know that many of you think that matchmaking is the answer to playing the raid. I assure you it will ruin the experience for everyone.
EDIT : I am aware that raid matchmaking works fine in other games but this isn't those games. I am not opposed to a well thought out matchmaking system for the raid but so far none of the responses have presented that.

Yeah there's no way matchmaking would ever work....everytime I post reason why it wouldn't. There's never any constructive reasons to argue it. It's just, "waaah I can't find people to play with"...but usually that's followed by, "I refuse to use the app or website."...well then that's your own fault.

I think is not even worth it. I have played with several random groups and is not an enjoyable experience. There is always someone pointing fingers a complaining because he got killed or something. Fuc.k matchmaking.

Your edit? Take some time, give Bungie a way to make it work. It may be something like this. You go into the raid matchmaker. There are three tiers. New, average, skilled. ? Something like that. Pick one. It matches you with five? If you are a party it will give you three? Get it? It RNGs a leader. The lead can be handed off. Just like we can. It puts you in orbit. You all mic up and discuss tactics. Requirements are a must: level, gear, mic. Without the requirements you can't get into the matchmaker. It's all there. It would be a nightmare for Bungie to make this work. They have enough probs. This game needs a LFG tool, a party finder. A board or menu in the game or in our ghost. We post, just like here. It is seen only by players who are on your system, online with you. It can be for any party, raid, nightfall, weekly, Vstrikes, farming, speed runs, dance parties on the moon. I am amazed that this game has no LFG tool in it. It's a big mistake.

Let this thing die no one comment on it

Why don't raids just have various difficulties like the regular missions? People could still play at the high difficulties for the stronger gear and also with friends. But set a lower difficulty so people can experience the raid and then decide if they want a team for higher difficulties. Just a thought.

Edited by Lost Sols: 12/17/2014 7:10:10 PMYou want to know why it would work? Because everyone who is opposed to it wouldn't have to use it. <gasp> Also, you should be locked out of the #feedback forum if you don't have a linked profile. In regard to your concerns though, if you get put in a raid in-progress they could give you a bonus of some kind. Maybe a couple engrams or mats. They could also say before you join, this raid is in progress, press A to join, B to rejoin search. If someone quits, put a cool down on when they can rejoin. If they habitually quit, extend it. If you're running a section you've already done and already received loot, give lesser rewards like 30 spinmetal, etc. The other thing that those opposed to matchmaking seem to unilaterally agree on, is that most players are trash, quitters or dicks and frankly that's a pigheaded and bogus view. Are there going to be some bad seeds? Sure. But there's also going to be many more cool people enjoying the game and having fun together.

I'd rather chance people AFKing or people jumping in mid-raid to have the ability to do raids. I don't have a lot of PS4 friends, so the only way I get to play raids is going to the raid forum and praying someone will take me. I'd rather run my chances of matchmaking woes than not getting to play at all.

Everyone that wants raid matchmaking are complete and total idiots that have no friends
-
TL;DR "I lack imagination and the ability to see that LFG already works perfectly in Destiny raids."
-
Okay, if not matchmaking in raids, how about AI bots?
-
They should put in a lobby system via the postmaster! Having to use other software to pre arrange a time is backwards. Bungie haven't got a clue! They are as dumb as a box of rocks!

Matchmaking won't work and doesn't work properly in other games. You can't even get a decent group without afk/quiters or people who seem to know why they can't hit stuff with a shotgun at 100 yards in a strike. A raid is a lot harder than a strike that's why. Look at wow's LFG it's full of shitty players, afk/quiters and noobs. That's why LFG is way easier with easier tactics than Normal.

I think the best solution is to make it an option. That way, you're not forced to use it, but you can if you want to (or need to).

Edited by Hektik: 12/17/2014 5:07:19 PMThe majority of anti matchmaking arguments I have read are mired with logical fallacies.
-
If they do make match making, then we will find a way to make it work. stop being a meg.
-
So where is your character info? Bungie employee?
-
Truthfuly I agree with you, find a good crew and there do it with you no matter if they have done it before
-
You are 100% correct. Even optional settings won't work. People on this forum think that everyone wants matchmaking but those who know it won't work just laugh.
-
Some of the older matchmaking had parameters you could set, I think that would solve most issues, plus make it optional.
-
Edited by EVIL VENOM: 12/17/2014 6:38:18 PMJust make two options: private invite by default as it is now and an option to change it to match making just like you would go in and change the difficulty on the raid but a Column after level 30,32 then last column would say match making. Select difficulty then go back in select match making and will find you a raid with people on your level and difficulty
-
EDIT: Many people seem to "just want to play the content i paid for". How about make the raids a rotation on the nightfall and offer nightfall rewards. Then you get to play it. That would be easier than implementing matchmaking.
-
I play with randoms all the time on the forums. None of them are friends. How is this different. Sometimes they suck and sometimes there awesome. People who use forums arent magically your best friends and you play together all the time. So i see no issue.
-
Wrong I just play with random people all the time. Match making would make it quicker to get to the raid.
-
running with bad people is better than running with no people, and relying on 3rd party websites to fill in the gaps in your own game is just bad practice
-
Totall rubbish. Do you honestly think a team of highly paid and experienced developers could not come up with a competent raid matchmaking facility. Stop wasting our time.
-
Doesn't matter. Eventually everyone will have gear that's better than raid gear. Stop trying to prevent people from having convient access to the content they purchased and are fully entitled to. In other words, "stfu, bitch."
