It's me :( and I need help

I'm determined to become a competent pvp player. But for the love of me I just seem to get worse. My last match K/D was 0.33. I'm a 29 hunter playing blade dancer. I feel to under powered however I do see hunters doing well so it's me that's the problem. So please send me tips and help a fellow gamers.

  • I saved this post at work all day so I could respond to it. For reference I have a 3.18 overall K/D on my huntress. Which is one of the top 150 across all platforms. Not bragging. I actually think K/D isn't important as long as you average around a 1.75 you can be extreamly successful in PvP. So. Hunter. That's what I use. I'm lvling bladedancer at the moment and I would offer this advice. If you're struggling with bladedancer in PvP try out the gunslinger. You might be more equipped as an indivudal player for more of a ranged base attack. Hunters aren't meant to win close quarter battles. Titans are. The key for a lower K/D is to minimize your deaths. You should never get double digit deaths in PvP. Any more is detrimental to your team even with 15 kills. So to limit that you need to (1) change how you move around the map (2) change your individual battle play style (1) how you move around the map directly correlates with your deaths. Know that each map is generally set up in half. One half red. One half blue spending on if you're alpha or bravo. It seems basic but that defining line is critical. The sides of that center line change depending on where the enemy team is spawning, so it'll change 10-20 times a game unless a team is holding one side. If so then you. Or your enemy will spawn in the same general area until your team floods that spawn. Watch for this when you play PvP. It's the first step to learning how to move. Eyes always on the radar. If you're running to the other side of the map you'll fall into a mismatch. Guarentee. Stay back and let the game come to you. Stay with your team or offer long range support to the sides or back of the general half of the map or even quarters if it's a map like cauldron or anomoly which are smaller and spawns rotate by opposite quarters. If you understand this then soon you will know when not to rush into a mismatch. Players with high K/Ds aren't hero's who win 1 on 3 battles. They put themselves in 1 on 1 situations with cover around them or a height advantage. It comes down to anticipation. Also it is KEY to be able to time heavy ammo. I cannot stress this enough. Heavy is everything to winning games and boosting k/D. They give you a 10 second window which is absolutely not long enough to change your strategy to get there in time before someone gets it. It spawns at 9:00 and 3 minutes after the last heavy is picked up (2). Once you understand how the maps are set up spawn wise. You need to focus on getting into 1 on 1 battles. Winning your 1v1 battle in a game is what gets you kills. 1 v anything more will lead to your death 90% of the time. Practice is what it takes to hit every shot depending on whatever gun you're comfortable with. I use pulse rifle and sniper because I work at range. I'll switch the sniper for fusion rifle whenever I play a small map. Force the 1v1s and use what makes you comfortable. Take that kid down and move on. If you run with auto rifles and shotgun then rely on your auto rifle. Only use your shotgun as a last resort. Remember that you're a hunter. Their poor at close range so rely on your quickness. Learn how to strafe while shooting to give your enemy less of a target. Less target they have the bigger the chance they miss. Good luck and if you play on the 360 my gt is: Etwok If you ever wanna play

    • Suggestion: play gunslinger. Much easier to get kills if you are struggling in pvp

    • You'll get better. Just don't think about doing better all the time while playing, it kills the natural flow and actually screw up more. Play with feeling like '-blam!- it, take this!' A lil secret: most of guys you think are ok/good have had some multiplayer experience or the other. So its like driving another vehicle with 4 wheels, just different size and type. From the next game that hits market, you wont suck. And get better at this in meanwhile. This game has lot of KDR shortcuts that ppl will be happy to tel you, or you can watch them in action and follow if you like (running with a secondary all the time..etc). You'll have to figure out the type of play that you prefer, and guns that feel rewarding. So experiment with weapons and styles. And I confirm I'm not good or anything. There are lots who are good/better than me. But I hold my own mostly, and always play solo.

    • The only way to get better is to gain experience. You're gonna have to learn the map, spawn points, and mechanics of the game. Once you have all of that memorized, you have to focus on controlling the engagement. Staying alive is one thing, but if you really want to get better, you need to learn how to sway the gunfight to your advantage. Use cover, learn how to use your grenades, and most importantly, use the radar. Once you have the map memorized and the mechanics of that map (how people play on it), seeing someone on the radar in a certain area will tell you how that person may act. For example, if you see red on your radar by some stairs, don't just rush the stairs. You can assume that person will peak up to check before running out, so you can either pre-nade him and run in or position yourself near cover and aim right at the stairs. Most people blindly rush into enemies and that's not the way to do it. There's so much that goes into being good at FPS games. I like to believe I'm great at them, but I have trouble trying to explain it to others. Best I can say is play against people who are better than you, learn their playstyle, and try to defeat them. This works for almost any game, especially fighting games. Playing someone better than you for an extended period of time teaches you how to see through their play styles and counter it. Try running rumble with someone who's really good and observe/remember what they do whenever you guys encounter. I've been playing with a friend in rumble for a while and he says he feels that he's gotten better from playing me because he now notices certain things players do and how to react.

    • I've always found playing with your team to be a highly effective strategy. If 3 players engage 1, you can assume a 1 in 3 chance of being focus-fired on an a 300% damage increase on your enemy. Less damage taken, more damage dealt. Another great strategy is to watch radar a LOT. You can often tell when/where an enemy is coming from this way. That being said, with invisibility perks on you don't show up on radar and can get easier kills with the element of suprise. Don't be afraid to melee, I get many kills this way. If your health is greater than your enemies when you go melee you have a good chance of winning. If not, jump backwards and shoot them from the air (if you have good reflexes)

    • Your #1 goal is don't die. That is the fastest way to boost your k/d, and it drastically changes how you play. This does not mean hide, hiding won't get you any kills to offset your deaths. Stick with teammates if you have them, watch the high traffic areas but try not to go in to them. Assess the situation before you engage, where is the enemy, how many are there, where is your team, quickly decide whether or not you will come out alive, not whether you will get kills. Kills are great, staying alive is better. If your team doesn't die, then the other team can't win.

      • best advice anyone ever gave me for fps's, STAY ALIVE! it is more important they you are staying alive rather than killing, dont just rush in a trade for a kill everyone in a while. If you are getting shot and you are not going to win, just run for your life! Also use your teammates, pay attention to where they are and where they are not, try your best to get in situations when you outman your opponent , because it also helps you outgun your opponent

its you not the hunter! but yeah You have Speed above everything Surviving is key! get good at sniping.. btw or running away and waiting for them in the corner.. slide shotgunning Depends on what guns you prefer to play with. i love running away from titans only to have my fusion rifle charged and ready for them in the next corner and dodge by jumping! that helps me a lot .

        • Try changing to golden gun and put on the perk for extra range and extra accuracy. Then the main thing it to stay with your team mates work together and don't ever rush in take your time and draw them out so you are in an advantageous position. Also listen out for heavy ammo and make sure you get at least one of the crates. If you are warlock or titan and see people going for one before it spawns wait until it spawns then super them. By the time they have picked up the ammo and changed they will be dead and if there are 2 or more its 2 or more ammo pickups for us (:

        • I feel the biggest thing that helped me was just slow down. Don't try and rush everything all the time. If there's a good opportunity where you can catch someone out, give it a go. But play back for the most part. I'm not saying camp, camping is the worst strat ever. Stay mobile, but keep people at a distance. You don't want someone rushing you with their Found Verdict, you won't win. If someone is capping a control point, try the exchange, and if you're starting to lose, run away. Forget it. Run around to the other side of the capture point, or cap something else. But slow down, and stay with your team

          • You can mix stalker and shadow jack to get a good amount of invisibility you can't be detected on radar while invisible so camp control spots and wait with a shotgun.

          • Know the hot spots of each map. Try and get some kills while people are capping a point, if playing control. Shotguns or fusion rifles into close corridors. Lastly, since you are playing blade dancer, don't sit on your super. Use it when you see a lot of enemies near you. You'll probably end up being the sole survivor

          • Look up some class set ups on YouTube. Seeing how other people play the game is a good way to learn. Also, record your matches, then go back and watch them to see if there are any ways you can improve. Notice what gets you killed and what gets you kills.

          • Best advice I can give you that works 100% of the time is. Defend defend defend. Know when to run and attack but most of the time your best position is to defend. Choose two points in control. A and B. B and C or something similar. Defend those areas. Don't worry about running and gunning all you will find is death via a team spawn. Crouch. Watch your radar. Pick up heavy ammo when able and defend. I pick a favourite area dependant on the maps. Venus is point C or A. Mars is point B and A. Earth is A and B. If you die and spawns change then swap. So instead of B and A do C and B. Defend well and your team will win most times.
