Much has been made about the lack of story in Destiny, so here's my shot at giving the Guardian more of a backstory. Input and comments welcome! * * * Sparks flew through the air around him, surrounding him like dancing fireflies, before spiraling away and guttering into darkness. He wanted to reach out and touch the light, but moving his arms was like lifting a mountain. There was a growing roar in his ears like an angry ocean approaching. The ground shook. It should worry him, he knew, but everything seemed so remote, so unreal. He envied the motes their brief, bright lives. He had been built for war; here at the end, all he wanted was a little peace. The embers winked out, and he followed them into darkness. [No signal]
