Make class items have perks like higher chance of exotics in strikes, more glimmer when using black wax dolls/ether seeds/ etc, etc

That'd be awesome. Right now they're worthless.
-
They should add extra discipline/intellect/strength.

What if you could pay 5,000 glimmer to add a perk of your choosing to your class item. Can only pick once. You could have perks be like "When using your primary weapon grenadier is active", "While in mid air you take less damage", etc
-
No to changing things like damage/armor/cooldowns, big yes to increased glimmer from enemies/materials from nodes/parts from dismantling. Maybe a +25% experience gain from killing x enemy type or for characters under level 18.

I'm not convinced that they don't already have perks. I've put a thread in the Help section that generated zero response. But has there been an official developer statement anywhere that they really are just fashion statements? My main is a Hunter, so that's where I'm most familiar. Wouldn't it make sense if Cloak of the Shadowjacks boosted invisibility effects? What if the Grinder's Cloak helped to yield more materials? Mostly my hunch is based upon level requirements tied to any given item. Visit the Cryptarch with class engrams and sometimes he will shit out two Hardcase Cloaks, for example. Identical items, except one will be for level 17 and one will be for level 20. But if they're identical and serve no purpose except for looks, then what is the reason for the different level requirements? If it's not for providing slight increases to an unknown buff, then it just seems really, really arbitrary and I don't understand the rationale. And if they do provide buffs or perks, then goddamn. Tell us already so that we can be smart about our loadouts.

Perks More Ammo More Glimmer More Faction Points More Marks Things that wont break the game.

Doing anything would be a huge improvement cause as they are now there's really no point in which one you wear at all unless it's for a faction or event
-
I vote yes. But the only drawback is that now the problem of using gear you hate but need would be extended to class items.
-
Would love for the class items to provide more than just eye candy :-)

Who would say no to this?
