Remove Commendations
Since the Dark Below, there have been many changes to Destiny. Most notable to gear and somewhat to how we play. I don't mind grinding to re-purchase gear I already own because it's stronger, but what's killing me are the commendations that put a cap on game play value. It's pointless and unnecessary, only to make the game harder to acquire good gear. At this late in the game it just doesn't make sense to change the rules.
I get it, it's your game Bungie and you want us to play it the way you want us to, but we've been playing just fine without commendations since launch just fine. There's no need for useless crap like this in your game. So I urge you to remove the commendations and set up players free.

Agreed! I just level up vanguard because it's easy to get marks. Crucible isn't worth it takes too long to get marks not really into PVP as I was in Halo or Cod when it was good. If they changed the rewards for crucible like 6 for winning 3 for loosing I might consider going all out. I plan on getting 1200 vanguard marks before the next expansion so I can upgrade right away.

All they had to do was raise the vanguard/crucible points and it was fine :) I agree the commendations are pointless. Think I have about 10 vanguard and 5 crucible taking up space in my bank :/ nothing worth using them on. If you start a new character is only time you might use them, but most of the time (if you've saved the gear) you already have new characters gear wait in bank.

We should receive a commendation for achieving rank 1 and 2, I was disappointed when I hit rank 2 and could not buy a helm or chest piece with my 200 marks because of this bottleneck; Eris gave me arms, I bought legs and will now will have to grind bounties and avoid doing strikes because my marks limit is maxed, this was not a well thought out design at all.

Purchased game for pve side, at least give us the commendations for what ever levels we currently have.

12 RepliesI am livid right now. I did not purchase this game for PVP. Not even for a second have I wanted to play The Crucible. Up until the patch I was working towards a helmet at my Dead Orbit faction. I finally got enough Crucible Marks after two days of playing, but now I need this stupid commendation? What are you commending me for, not punching a hole in my wall? I just barely made Crucible Rank 2 after two days of completing bounties...no commendation? WTF Bungie? What is the nonsense?

Felt the same way about commendations until I realized that it as only for helmets and body armor and all gear can now get you beyond 30 when fully upgraded. If you buy gauntlets and boots, then buy body armor from the Xur, then you will only need 1 commendation to get a helmet and reach a level you couldn't have otherwise, from the shops anyways.

Only thing I don't like is that now factions are even more useless. Like I gotta wear the cape to rank up New Monarchy but I have to wear any other cape to rank up crucible to get a crucible commendation to buy gear from NM? I don't even bother at this point, I have the armor to be at 31 so I'm just not going to even try to get vanguard/crucible commendations. I'm still grinding for God of War and the NM shaders over here. May wait until I rank up crucible one last time so I can get the new Vanquisher.

The commendations is just another method of making you continue to play and grind and get hours logged since you can't buy jack without them. Anything Bungie implements is for the longevity of Destiny/Activision which would be obvious since they are a business. That said, it's pretty annoying when I'm level 14 at Vanguard as it takes forever to get a new commendation.

I don't let these changes impact any part of my gaming experience...If I want an item which requires a commendation, i'll simply do what is required to get it. Sure, it can be a bit of a grind but every player is in the same boat. I suggest running the bounties with a fellow Guardian which takes the tedious edge off...I'm currently hell bent on getting the Sunsetter shader from Eris...and if that means jumping through hoops for a week to get it, then so be it....because the end result will be satisfied & looking bloody awesome in my new colours!

Bungie is not intrested in casual players like myself. You your not part of hardcore twitch raiding streaming group bungie has no intrest in you.

Honestly, if you do the nightfall and weekly your half way there, plus you can trade commendations to other characters via the vault... It's not a big deal.

Commendations are stupid!! I will end up having 100s from vanguard and none from crucible And guess where I could use vanguard commendations : [b]1 freaking vendor[/b] And where could I use crucible commendations I will never get ; 5 damn vendors !!

I agree: the commendations serve absolutely no purpose other than to make things more difficult to buy. Since we can only earn 100 marks a week and hold 200 in our inventory, it restricts players enough; that keeps people from buying everything in a month, and frankly, who cares if they buy everything in a month. Bungie wants to see us play in a very specific way, and quite frankly they have no business in something like that. I'm a casual, and the way I play doesn't affect the hardcore guys, and it should work vice-versa as well.
