Me and my brother found some of our dads old AD&D 2e (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition for the confused folk), and we were... Baffled... By the amount of math and lack of immersion... So we're making our own game! We call it Altharía.
Basically, I want to take the concepts of games like Elder Scrolls, WoW, D&D, Maplestory; and worlds like Eragon, Narnia, and the like; and shove it all into this old Journal to make our game! What I want to know is what concepts/ mechanics should we almost HAVE to include? So far we have the races, stats, and level up system committed to our book, and our class/ skill tree progression is in the works (wish me luck, we have 50 "classes").
Thank you guys for any support if you can take a moment to help me.

I play D&D quite often and also Twilight 2000. Very fun.

This sounds like it has potential.

Will there be a "Tourist" class? With a floral pattern shirt and a camera and stuff?
-
You only get immersed in D&D if you care about it.

Will there be dragons?

If it has figs I r8 8/8

Draw out some basic lore. Write some campaigns. Be a little bit more original in your setting - don't just make it Narnia/Middle Earth/Harry Potter world or whatever. Maybe do an urban fantasy thing or a science fiction type setting or a multiverse if you want to go really big. Also, focus more on story than mechanics. I can barely enjoy D&D someitmes because of all the numbers and stats and keeping up with it all sucks the life out of a game for me; I much prefer interesting character interaction and world building to improving my stats and getting the best armor or whatever.
Hence Destiny's suckage
Tell me more about the lore.

I got the starter set to pathfinder but havent gotten a good group together to try it. So cant help you on the mechanics, sadly. Hopefully I experience a tabletop rpg this winter break.

This is cool. I've wanted to do stuff like this before, I just don't have the time. Have you ever played NetHack?

Add a Michael Bay modifier, Explosions Everywhere!!
lack of immersion
and you decide to make a tabletop rpg?

Except EU as Canon Lore.

How is your lore? Make a shitton about everything, even worthless lore that just kinda sits there
