The change form selling materials for marks to buying materials for marks has potential to help out a lot of players I will admit. This said it is putting some of the player base in an unfortunate place, I will share my situation later. To those who wish to farm and get there marks without stepping foot in pvp, or doing nightfall the material exchange was for them. Removing this did a disservice to players with this inclination. With the new system of buying materials for marks those who do not wish to farm and would rather buy there materials this is a great system. My issue with this is why can we not have both? It could be somewhat of a pseudo-economy where guardians who gather materials and sell them to the tower who then sell them to other guardians for a profit. In a game where, for me at least, I am grasping for some semblance of a living breathing world could be a step in the right direction.
I cannot play pvp because I have satellite internet and on average get about 1000 ping. Farming materials was the most efficient way to get legendary gear. I was starting to really enjoy getting to know the factions, what little there was to know about them, and was going to represent them fully. I have thoroughly enjoyed this game despite its flaws, but as I can no longer reach my arbitrary goals of faction armor for two characters I am somewhat disheartened from getting as into the world of destiny. This is just my thoughts for now though and hopefully there will be a new way for people like myself to earn marks in the near future.
