I found this Reddit post today, and it astonished me that a community could be so supportive of a fellow Guardian that has lost something very dear to them. Faith in Humanity restored.
I also read a story about Gearbox (Borderlands) making a NPC in honor of a departed fan, and couldn't help but think that this should also happen in Destiny.
Note: DeeJ, this is not a petition, merely a piece of feedback that would probably make a lot of the community and this redditor's days.
I for one will be wearing a black Dead Orbit Mark today and tomorrow in honor of his passing.
Thank you for your time, and a Titan FoH salute to you all.
RIP BigBilly75
Edit 1: I would like to say thank you for all of your support for this great guardian and his comrades. The suggestions and support have astounded me even more. This is truly a community I can be proud to say I'm a part of.
Edit 2: I didn't actually know Billy. I simply stumbled upon the reddit post, and was deeply moved as to the support he was getting from total strangers. I simply created this post to ensure he, and the many others who have passed that have loved this game, are not forgotten by the community.
Edit 3: Commenting on here is great, and you guys have helped keep this trending all day for the community to see, but commenting on the reddit post would also be nice. The man who originally posted that thread is the one who is truly suffering the most.
Edit 4: To everybody that comes to this thread and posts 'nobody cares': Please don't. He was important because he was part of a huge family known as the Bungie.net community, and part of the #GamerMasterRace. We all known many people die everyday, but not everyday do you get to know someone you never knew, and it affected a lot of us. So please, if you don't care, don't post.
Edit 5: To everyone saying 'why does he need a memorial and not everyone else?': The suggestions that are being posted and I suggested would be for ALL fallen guardians.
RIP BigBilly75
Indeed. Losing a good friend in any capacity is sad, and tragic when so young. Terribly sorry for anyone who is being touched by this loss first hand. The Bungie Community has stood long and proud enough to lose several of our regulars. Anyone who held court here when the Halo Nation was our ward can tell you stories about good old ~B.B. The best monuments are the one that the community makes for themselves. We're glad we could make that man happy, and we're sad that he's gone.

I saw that coming from mile away and it still broke my heart

Faith restored. RIP...

We've lost a Guardian. RIP Big Bill.

There should be some cosmic 8 ball that we can shake to snag the life of some scumbag on deathrow to heal those who have lived a proper but brief life. A coworker of my wife's delivered a baby that had a rare form of cancer...the little guy lived for an astounding month and a half. I would shake that 8-ball in a second. No remorse. No second thoughts. I'd sleep like an angel that night afterwards.

RIP Big Bill. I've lost a few best friends/gami ng partners myself, it's never the same without out them or playing without them. RIP Virtago420, ChuckyBoyRoy, and Keepit1hunnit

RIP Big Bill your memory will live on with those you touched and may your legacy be added to the Titan codex.

So someone died... nothig special. Certainly not special enough to get named in game, hes not even an important person

I read that with the Destiny music playing in the background. My faith is restored in this community. It brings a smile to my face that we can all come together for a guardian who has fallen. FIST RAISED

It can be incredibly difficult to lose a community member. I was part of a clan that lost someone several years back and it was the most difficult thing to endure. The friendships formed in games can be as strong or stronger than those forged elsewhere. I offer my condolences and will pop a bubble in this community members honor.
