I just want to start with how well received Iron Banner 2.0 was, and how impressed I was with Bungie listening to feedback to create an event that was rewarding and incredibly fun to play. A couple of my clan mates earned some IB gear and were finally able to get to level 30 after some very disheartening runs through the Vault of Glass on hard that didn't drop that coveted piece of armor that they coveted.
With that said, I would love to see the Queen's wrath event come back. It's first iteration was mediocre. Most of the advertising led us to believe that we would be getting new missions from the Queen to complete and learn more about the world. Much to my disappointment and many others, they were just epic versions of the Story missions that most everyone had already played, and because the game had just come out, most had just recently played the missions. And then to make matters worse, scrapping the equipment earned in the Queen's wrath no longer gave ascendant materials...
Things Queen's Wrath got right:
Event structure - Completing a Queen's bounty gave a missive that could then be completed to earn unique gear, weapons, and/or a ship.
Reputation - Completing bounties gave rep that could be used to buy unique armor shaders, guardian mark, and weapons.
Things Queen's Wrath got wrong:
Mission structure - Epic version of missions that were very recently played, randomly selected with no reasoning for why the Queen had picked that target (With the random selection, many times my friends and I would play the same mission over and over).
Equipment sharding - For people disappointed with rehashed missions, being able to get the coveted ascendant materials to upgrade their gear made the experience rewarding. With that removed it made the experience only worth the rep for guns that were arguably only good for vanilla crucible.
Things I'd like to see changed:
Mission structure - Two versions of difficulty for the missives. Normal (24) and Hard (28-30). Normal modifiers would be Epic, Nightfall, and a random (i.e., Lightswitch, Angry, *any* damage burn). Hard modifiers would be the full slew, Epic, Nightfall, Juggler, Angry, Lightswitch, and a random damage burn. The mission would say which burn was on so the team attempting the assassination could prepare for it like a real operation. Finally, some mission excerpt that replaces the mission's original dialogue, like why the Queen wants this target taken out.
Equipment - Normal missive drops armor that levels to 27 and can be sharded and/or rare weapons. This was a great challenge for some of my friends and myself to earn our first piece of legendary gear to help us level to tackle the harder content.
Hard missive drops armor that levels to 30, only two different pieces like IB and can be sharded and a possible unique Queen's wrath legendary weapon.
Vendor - Rep would rank and sell items similar to how IB sold items. Exception would be that there would only be one random piece of armor and one random weapon.
Those are my thoughts on the Queen's wrath and what I hope to see in the future. If you have thoughts or critiques please comment and add them here
