The black garden "Where these machines are born"
So the stranger seems to think that the vex come from the black garden, but at the same time we have grimoire cards stating that the vex found the black garden and began worshipping it, so they existed before its discovery. So is the stranger just very poorly informed or is this a major story inconsistency?
Can anyone clear this up for me?

Perhaps after discovering the heart they moved their "base" there. Or even transposed their other universe over/under it. Remember the way we get there is through a vex gate and we are on a terra formed Mars. And then we're back on mars after the fight.

you have to remember. when you are getting Lore from a in-univarce character, each and every one will have a slightly different take on things. not every character is going to know everything on what is going on in destiny. there is no all knowing character yet. sure there are some that know more then others, but not everybody knows everything
