The Story of The Last Word

From time to time I make video's for my Destiny Youtube channel and this was one that I have wanted to make for a long time Now there are quite a few other Ideas that I have that I didn't include in the video Lets get to the Root of the Transformation and some Ideas I have had. Possible Spoilers I think Part of the reason that The Transformation takes Place is because 1. the Magistrate Loken incident 2. Jaren is not the Guardian he once was (I'll elaborate). 1. Killing Loken is "the straw that breaks the camels back". Yor has no reference until Palamon as I showed in the video. So going forward, very soon before Jaren leaves the area his transformation takes place. Now either the Tower's Consensus tells Jaren he must stay in the area to keep the peace. If he doesn't stay in the area then The Rose is The Last Word. If no passage of time takes place I don't think Shin is old enough to be given a hand cannon. So I at this point I don't think Jaren passes TLW down to Shin. This sets up the "Well how do you explain the Quote on Last word" question. I think what may happen is that Yor revalling in the dark power that is growing within him he sets down Thorn and Shin picks Thorn up. Upon the Hand cannon touching the Pureness of a Young boy it transmats back into The Last Word. Its just my theory, we will see how close I get. 2. Jaren is not the Guardian he once was. When I read about the transformation The Guardian "He knew he was fading but still he yearned". This sounds like the Light within Jaren is diminishing. Whether its Age, or Stress, or Just too long out on the Wild Lands he is beginning to lose it. But he still yearned, so he knew he needed more power to maintain the hero he wanted to be. So he lets the Darkness in. Now, for me, a HUGE chunk of this story is missing in the fact that Yor says he has been to the Moon. This is where the Hive dwell and the race that is most closely connected with the darkness. This may be where Xyor, the Unwed (the Hive Wizard you have to kill to get Thorn) comes in to play. Just guessing here but Jaren may have made a deal with the Hive to gain more Power if he chooses to Marry Xyor. This doesn't happen since she is called "the Unwed". If this is true then Shin Malphur may have pulled the trigger at Durga (Dwindlers Ridge). I just have a hard time believing that Yor is dead though. Could you kill someone you consider you Father? I know I couldn't, despite how I felt. So Yor May still have some stories in the Dark ages. I really hope Bungie lets more of this awesome story out!

  • This is the second of your videos that I've enjoyed. I recall watching your Thorn videos weeks ago; it was as good as this one. I theorized that TLW was Jaren's Rose as well. I think that Shin reclaimed the weapon after killing Yor at Dwindler's Ridge and was able to restore it to its original state. As far as Shin being capable of destroying Yor, I see it as having been in both their wills that Shin "free" Jaren from the darkness he had submitted himself to. Good video. Always refreshing to see someone else intrigued by the story of TLW and Thorn.
