Please hit like and give a bump if you like! This is quite a long post, see TL;DR (in bold) if you suffer from ADD. Before I start, I'd like to say I enjoy playing this game and would love to see it last. My luck with RNG in the Vault of Glass has been pretty good so far, bar a few ascendant only runs. I've been blessed with enough gear to get my Hunter, Warlock and Titan to level 30. I have, however, seen many players struggling to get that one piece of gear they need, or even any at all, thus my reason for this post. I have posted this idea a few times in replies to others but never as my own post, until now. The system would be, for example: Completing a section of the raid would give 25 marks along with loot (10 for normal, 15 for hard. Marks only rewarded upon 1st completion of each checkpoint.) making it possible to earn up to 100 marks per week. A new vendor in the tower would sell raid drops in exchange for said marks. Raid arms/chest/legs pieces would cost 100 marks each, with the head piece costing 300. The vendor would be on either a daily or weekly refresh, displaying armour with different stat boosts on each refresh. Weapons, if added, would cost a bit more as they are not completely required and should be left mostly to RNG. Legendary weapons would cost 200-500 marks, depending on tier, with Exotics (or new Exotic bounties) costing 1000 marks. This would mean those with horrendous RNG luck would take 6 weeks of hard raids to get full raid gear, so I don't believe the system is game breaking. Personally, I don't think weapons need to be available for marks but I added them anyway to see what people think. The marks don't necessarily need to be called Raid Marks. They could be something along the lines of Hezen Tomes or Glass Fragments, making them specific to VoG. Any future raids could have different marks to acquire their gear. Update1: Items would only be attainable from the vendor upon full completion of the raid. A full completion on hard would be required before items only available from hard become attainable. Update2: It has come to my attention that, using multiple characters of the same class, players could abuse this system to buy their way to 30 a lot faster than intended. I'm not sure what way to combat this without penalising players who have three different class characters. One idea I've had is that marks per week would be shared between characters of the same class, if this was possible. Another would be that raid gear earned on one character is bound to them and cannot be taken out of the vault on another. Any other suggestions are welcome. I am not overly against people using this method myself. Even though I haven't done it, I can see that it does take time and effort to level up those extra same-class characters. However, I think it's a lot less likely Bungie would consider this idea if it would let people buy their way to 30 in one raid. Update3: The gear attainable from the vendor wouldn't necessarily have to be the same gear dropped from the raid. This could help with the problem of all 30s looking the same. It could also have slightly lower stat bonuses or different perks. The gear could then have it's own lore - for example, the Vanguard created it using data compiled from the Ghosts of Guardians who have ventured into the Vault. Update4: Rather than a new vendor, the gear could be available from the faction vendors, requiring a certain level in the faction of choice as well. This would mean we'd have a choice of stat bonuses and, if it's along the lines of Update3, would add more variation to the appearances of high level players. This would also solve the issue in Update2, as players would have to level up their faction reputation on each character before being able to buy anything. Courtesy of Noxious Priest. TL;DR 100 Marks awarded per week - Normal 40, Hard 60. 25 per checkpoint - Normal 10, Hard 15. Each checkpoint would only award marks once per difficulty. New vendor in the tower, offering prices of: - 100 Marks for arms/body/legs. - 300 Marks for head. Weapons not necessary but if added: - 200-500 Marks for Legendary weapons. - 1000 Marks for Exotic weapons (or bounties). A complete playthrough would be required on a difficulty to unlock items at the vendor which are available from that difficulty. Armour stats change on daily or weekly refresh. N.B. Prices are just an example, if it gets as far as the devs I imagine they'll have a team working out their ideal prices. P.S. I'm not making any more changes to the prices. They are just an example. I'll leave pricing for the devs, if it gets that far. P.P.S. This is off topic but I've been thinking of ways to reward players for repeat runs, to encourage them to help others after they've done their own weekly raiding. One idea is each stage would award X amount of a randomly selected planetary upgrade material. To prevent checkpoint farming, the entire raid would have to be completed before subsequent repeat runs would award materials.
