Trying to use 2 Xbox 360s on the same internet

So I have a friend who is running into an issue. He and his roommate both play Destiny on their Xbox 360s, but they also run into issues when they both try to play at the same time. I am making this post on his behalf in hopes of finding a solution. That said, here are the follows: Very shortly after both start playing Destiny they begin to recieve error codes. The vast majority of them are caterpillar. Others that have occasionally occured are Hawk, Rabbit, and Bee. These disconnects occur quite often, usually 5-15 minutes from the first error code (Minimum time between getting an error code was 1-2 minutes, max time about an hour). It also occasionally kicks them right out of Xbox Live, and they will have to restart to console to reconnect to XBL. They used to be able to play Halo 4 together with no problem, so can anyone help me out with this? (If it helps I used my profile to play a bit of Destiny on their xbox and I ran into the same problems. Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • Hi StraightShotSS! I'm sorry to hear your friend is having difficulty with multiple consoles on the same home network. I've come across similar reports and addressing this issue can definitely be tricky. Destiny connects not just with servers but with other consoles. Having a second console doubles the amount of connections going in and out, sometimes giving a router a hard time. If possible, try unplugging any other network devices connected to the router to see if this helps. This can be a temporary test; if successful this might be hardware related. Next, multiple consoles on a network can be competing for the same ports or connections. If your friend has port forwarding or DMZ enabled, the consoles may not know to give each other 'space'. Instead, try disabling all port forwarding and using UPnP. This will allow the consoles the chance to communicate on the network without trying 'talk' over each other. Finally, our NAT guide (http://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/11931) will always have our best information regarding different setups and configurations. It is always worth reading.

  • We run two XBOnes at my house without many problems. Once in a while either one will get an error. For the most part it's mine. Oddly enough mine is cabled while my son's is wifi. Biggest problem we had for a long time was that consumer routers have trouble with Open NATs on two devices. Who ever turned on first got the Open NAT while the other got limited. Our fix is a bit lengthy to put here but I run two routers AT&T Uverse and a Nighthawk. Nighthawk is in bridge mode and it's IP is in the AT&T router's DMZ. Connect the Boxes to Nighthawk and both have Open NAT.

  • I'm actually running 3 ps3's on the same wifi and we don't run into any connection problems the thing is bungie made up errors that make it seem like its your personal connection but it's their servers cause I mean seriously when has this ever happened with other games? It has to be their servers

    • I have same issue with my mate and I, we play ps4 and he comes over most weekends for gaming. We play via Ethernet and still get booted all the time. And when he is at home we don't get booted but we can never hear each other. Having such a bad run with gaming lately, gta5 on ps4 constantly puts me into empty lobbies. But was perfect on PS3 Diablo 3 on PS3 wouldn't let him and I join parties unless someone else hosted it. Every other game has been perfect
