Why Destiny is bad for gamers and life

Grinding is exhausting with little reward • Many people know how frustrating it is to play raid week after week, only to get weapons and materials and no raid gear. That's been my story until the iron banner. Speaking of iron banner, do you know how much time I spent on iron banner? I think over 20 hours, honestly I didn't count exactly. I get home from work around 7pm, boot up the game, play till about 1 and sometimes even 2am. Went solo or teamed up, won many games, and got booted a couple times by servers. And well for example, in about a 6 hour period I literally leveled up 1 rank. Reaching level 1 was easy, but level 2, 3, 4 and 5 was harder. Had nightfall extra xp and all that. Ran out of glimmer, had to spend time getting glimmer for those expensive items. So from Monday to Sunday night, I played hour after hour and even had a headache on Saturday from not sleeping enough and playing too much, I mean I wanted to do raid too since I still don't have raid gear, didn't do the daily strikes. And what do I have to show for it? A level 28 warlock, level 5 iron banner, iron banner boots and gauntlets, the fusion rifle---which I wasted all my 22 motes of light on and ended up with a bad custom---not enough shards to reach level 29 and a need for raid helmet or chest plate. This game is just way too demanding for the amount of reward. If I had a wife, there's no way I could have reached level 5, unless I wanted to neglect her for a week lol, and I won't even mention kids. What if people want to play all the other games that come out? Does bungie think everyone is just going to play destiny for the rest of their life when we have games like halo 5, new zelda, smash bros, uncharted 4 etc coming? Apparently I can't even play the dark below if I don't reach level 30 cuz I'll be weak as heck. What about the next iron banner with level 34 cap? If I'm not level 32, I assume I'll be getting rocked, that means more hours and hours of grinding. Now some folks have had great fortune getting what they needed but I hear many haven't. If Destiny is going to last the test of time, Bungie needs to focus on giving us more content and bang for our TIME. New enemies, more halo 4 style cinematic moments, more weapons with cooler effects and abilities, more uses for materials, more efficient ways to farm for materials and items we need, more motes of light for those reforging needs etc. They also need to cater to the gamers who play more than 1 game, and people who can't spend so much time on a game. I have neglected every single game I have currently just to play and am disappointed, even my roommate was left bored in my basement with no tv as I grinded every day with the only tv in my house to get to iron banner level 5 lol, and I still need to grind for glimmer---by the way, apparently bungie changed glimmer drops from enemies, I remember getting glimmer without using ether etc, now I have to use those items. I love this game, I really do, it has so much potential but we NEED more bang for our TIME! Also less time for more bang! Gamers who like other games, married men, and woman, you students out there, how is destiny working out for you?

  • In my experience, any MMO style game will have elements of grind. My advice is that you let go. Don't worry about it. Just play it for fun, accept that getting that relic gear is going to cost you more than it's worth, and enjoy the bits of gear you DO have. There will always be a new level cap, some new emperors clothes. Play those other new games, and enjoy them. Check back in now and then and just do the sane thing: enjoy your game your way.
