Eris (prediction)
I think Eris is not an ally. She seems to be corrupted by the Hive/Crota. She has same eyes as Crota and the same greenish flames as Crota. I think she somehow stole a bit of Crotas power and as soon as Crota dies the power will transfer to her. So she needs us to kill Crota so she can wield the power of a shar god.
OR
She is infected and controlled by Crota himself. Maybe Crota needs more power to rise (which he gets by killing guardians) and Eris is luring us. To pretend that Eris is good, she supplies us with the vendor items.

In the background of the second pic you can see the face of Crota i believe. Same eyes as Eris. It looks like Crota sees through Eris eyes.
Maybe i am all wrong... feel free to add ideas

Update:
I think we didnt saw Crota by now, what we saw where Hive Knights like the swarm princes we fought in "Sword of Crota". So it could be that she is somehow a swarm princess now merged with her human attributes (similar to Kerrigan from Starcraft but not that powerfull). The swarm princes are the creators of the sword of crota and i believe that they are needed to rise Crota from its current inactive state.

1 ReplyI think it's more likely that she's an ally but like you said had to use some of the hives power in order to survive in the moon tunnels for so long. Relying on that power and perhaps concealing her presence by making her essence more hive-like turned her into a partial hive. I still think she will retain the core of her humanity however. There seems to be many similarities between how Kabyr took on characteristics of the vex and how Eris took on the characteristics of the hive.
