Update 11/17/2014 making it harder for solo players?

I personally don't have time to gather three people for the nightfall and or weekly strike before I run into work so I tend to solo them in order to stay caught up with my friends. The scaling seemed fair prior to todays update seeing how for one gaurdian it would be easier as apose to when done with three. It seems though that the update increased the solo scaling to what it should be for three player because a solo strike which took 20-25 min (did it on my other character yesterday) took 50 minutes to solo with the same weapons and gear today after the update. In my personal opinion it doesn't make sense to make it easier for three people and harder for one person. It's become more time consuming than difficult by just turning the adds to bigger bullet sponges.

  • Don't know about everyone else, but I ran the Nightfall this week (Devil's Lair) multiple times on different level characters. From level 25 to level 29. I used the proper weapons upgraded, ie; Fatebringer, an arc damage primary, an arc damage sniper rifle and an arc damage rocket launcher. Also had a couple of backup solar damage weapons for enemies with solar shields. Try reading what the burn on the strike is. That way you can use the right weapons. Burns benefit players as much as enemies. Killing the fallen captains with a fully upgraded Fatebringer with the Firefly perk was fun as hell. The wizards and shanks are easy with weapons that do solar damage. Thats the whole point to using elemental weapons.

  • Not to be harsh but cheese spots ruin the game. And strikes should be near impossible to solo. Make some more friends online! Join a clan or find some random peeps in the recruitment forum. I do agree that matchmaking would be useful but a level cap needs to be on it as you could get lower levels hoping to be carried through a level 28 weekly. Lol

    • Yes I totally agree. As a matter of fact I think if you solo the game you should be rewarded even more, not make the damn game harder!Who's idea was that? Not only that the older this game gets meaning the longer it's been out, there are fewer people playing, at least on my friends list. It used to be 10 people on my friends list were playing now I'm lucky if I see one or two. Because they are playing different newly released games now.

    • Agreed. There's so much more problems to fix and weapons to buff to make the gameplay much better. Instead they spent all this time to recode the heroic and nightfall to be much harder for solo players

    • They think by getting people to play together they save their game but they are so far past the point of no return that they won't survive the next few months when master cheif collection outsells destiny they have a major problem. This game is dead and doesn't know it yet

    • I especially hate the fact that i get one-shoted by everything that is around my level. Seriously stop nerfing us and buffing the enemies. IT'S BULLSHIT!!!!!!

    • Totally agree. I loved solo as my friends all work and we all have kids so hooking up together was hard enough but now I cannot even enjoy a quick half our or so after work because this update and I don't have the time to wait about msg every stranger to join me when most of the time the wa"#er will stay in a spot so you do the dirty work!!!

      • So 1.0.3 release notes from Deej says "Difficulty will scale less for 3-player Fireteams, making Strikes less deadly for them" reported elsewhere "Strike scaling has been changed This isn’t good news for solo players or those who get stuck playing solo when two teammates drop out, but Bungie has adjusted the difficulty scaling of strikes so that t[b]hey’re harder for one player but easier for three [/b]compared to before. This gives you more reason to play together." So I'd like to know which it is. If they have deliberately made it more difficult for those who cant always pull a fireteam together then that's a bad decision. I cant see how that can be justified.

      • Not only did they screw the missions up for solo players, they quietly ruined the exotic fusion rifle, Pocket Infinity. It is now completely useless. A rare fusion rifle has better performance. Why have exotics in the game if they have worse performance than a rare version? I don't understand their thinking at all. Once again, all effort for improvement goes strictly to PvP. In the meantime, they keep making things worse for PvE. Still bad glitches in the VOG. It was important to make sure you can carry more bounties. I did not realize that was even a problem. And yet, the vault size remains the same (this is a major problem). I am definitely considering finding another game. They are going down the same road DICE / EA did with the Battlefield series. Ignore what the community wants, break things that work and buff things nobody thought was an issue.

      • This is crap. I think I may just play halo now. I am a level 29 hunter and my buddy is a 28 titan. Before the patch either one of us could solo the Priest on level 22 (weekly) WITHOUT using the cheat spot, now the two of us together spent an hour tying last night and just quit. It's to hard. We also noticed the Yellow bar captains in that instance and Wizards and Knights in the spawning pits had STUPID strong shields. I unloaded a clip of Arch amo on an Arch shielded Knight via head-shots, and his shields were still at half! Unless they do something to fix this, they just lost two more players to Master Chief. (poetic isn't it)

        • Bungie know exactly what they did, and they knew it would impact single players, the question is how much noise needs to be made to get them to change their minds...... or if it is even worth it

          • Didn't get a chance to rerun the priest mission but I solo'd the devils lair. I thought it was about right for the mission and modifiers. It wasn't easy by any means, but considering the layout of the mission I expected it to be harder then last weeks.

          • I can vouch for the accuracy of that. Yellow bar mobs have higher armor value, at least by 50%. They also walled off the cheese spot under the platform for the Archon Priest final fight.

            • I can understand where you are coming from. I ended up having to solo weekly last night on two of my classes just to get it finished before the new week. Now that they fixed the platform on the priest, itwill be a bigger pain in the ass. Even had a guy trying to get my help to run the weekly 2 hours before it ended.Just didnt have time as I only logged in to update. I felt kinda bad for him as it sucks to lose out on those coins. :( As far as the scaling goes I haven't tried nightfall today yet, but strange thing was I got into a public event solo just a few minutes ago. Was a defend warsat on mars and I swear they increased health and damage to these yellow bars. I really got my ass handed to me and the minotarus were taking no damage. Just didn't feel right at all....
