Thorn vs. Last Word
What's your preference? Which one so you want more?
TLW dropped in my first raid a few weeks ago and I really like it on my hunter. I just recently finished my thorn bounty (hallelujah praise Bungie) and so far I'm on the fence. I like both. How bout you guys?

To me I don't even see the question here, I don't like thorn at all as of right now, and last word is amazing.

I've been waiting for TLW for so long, got it from Xur, and I have to say that, well, it's just ok. I know most will respond by saying "wait until you lvl it up". Thing is though, the perks aren't that great and don't suit my playstyle. The other deal breaker for me is the weaker impact (compared to other HCs) even if it is balanced out by high fire rate. TLW is definitely fun to play with, but prefer Thorn over TLW which is a big let down for me to say. TLW feels like the HC a player who mainly plays with ARs would love because it doesn't require as much precision as other HCs and takes less time to kill enemies than any AR does. Thorn takes a while to adjust to but is much more rewarding. The DoT damage alone makes it the better weapon. When properly adjusted to the reload and mag size, you have the option of playing either tactically or aggressively. With TLW, even with that fast fire rate, all those shots HAVE to count. You almost HAVE to play aggressively. There is little room for error against stronger enemies and you will find yourself running out of ammo very quickly. I know it isn't the popular opinion but Thorn FTW.

15 RepliesTLW will constantly outperform Thorn due to its better rate of fire, full auto firing, perks, and reload/stability. Thorn needs a serious buff. Hawkmoon = Pve king hand cannon. TLW = Pvp king hand cannon. Thorn = The baby brother.

TLW is better if you can't aim for shit and love to lay down a wall of lead and hope to hit something lol thorn is the exact opposite it's a hand held sniper rifle and is crap in the hands of someone who "sprays n prays",with skilled aiming thorn will drop your ass quick with two headshots and it's surprisingly easy cause the sights are very clean and easy to get a beat on someone with, it's all a matter of preference and skill really.

Let's be honest. Everyone knows the last word is better based solely on the spin animation. Instantly makes this gun one of the greatest pistols ever. Purely cosmetic sure, but still amazing and fun.

I'll stand by my Thorn for crucible and favorite gun but I'm using TLW just to upgrade it and for kicks. It's okay but the automatic throws me off. What they should have done is increase the rate of fire every trigger pull or fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. Thorns reload though.....I have some legendary arms that increase hand cannon reload speed so I never noticed it but after I got the raid arms ....you literally take a day to reload. Thorn is my crucible gun so I switch back and forth. The iron banner will be a bitch though.

Good arguments on this thread.. But hawkmoon is god until thorn gets the buff. Any buff for that matter... Dot stacks.... Amo regeneration.. Faster reload.... Bigger clip.... Bungie said themselves it needs buff so no argument there. I have all three exotics. I new first crucible match with hawkmoon that it was in a whole new level. Trully exotic. If every shots a headshot you can get 5 kills with one clip.... Then to ice the cake the reload speed is lightning fast. Hawkmoon master race until thorn gets buff... Tlw is just meant to be a funn gun. It can compete with thorn now.. Until buff.

Thorns weakness is damage output. it has a high ROF and silly recoil, but low damage and a tiny clip/long reload. it just doesn't work as well as it should.

Thorn is trash. it's worthless like Kenny from the Walking Dead (video game), and about as useful as a small infant with polio that has no arms

TLW is fun, cool animations. If you want to get down to business thorn is where its at. I run gloves that increase hand cannon reload speed on my hunter along with chain of woe and gunslinger trance perks for increase in reload and stability.

22 RepliesThe thorn is fine when used with a warlock. everyone says it;s mag is too small becuase they spam it too much. Precise shots and the mag is mroe than enough for it. People want teh deveour mark to stack becuase agian they have terrible aim. a few shots to the head it and works fine. People want it to reload faster because they spam it too much and empty the clip to fast. Again precise shots and it works fine. The thorn rewards the accurate player, and punishes the spammer.

Thorn with Gunslinger Hunter is a beast and reloads really fast! The gun rewards strategy and precision while TLW is more of a rowdy gun. I love both but when they buff Thorn it might rival HawkMoon!

Get the dead orbit gloves that boost reload on hand cannons. Thorns only weakness is awful reload speed. After that its a beast. Accurate, d.o.t., range. Also it shoots poison short swords. POISON -blam!-ING SWORDS!

I was using the last word a lot before people bought it from xur I liked it but I like the abilities on the thorn more. But I really love the switching animation of the last word. Have them both upgraded to their second perk.
