Raid Gear Drops Being Thrown Off by previous patch
After 400 + hours in this game and also completing the raid every week from the start has lead me to believe this:
In the patch that made rahool more generous you [i]changed ascend material from rare to legendary.[/i] This is where I believe the raid drops are getting thrown off. Now whenever you roll a legendary drop in the raid it is almost always shards or energy. The first week in the gorgons chest two people in the group got exotic Monte Carlo. Every subsequent week whether on hard or normal yields shards, energies or the class item. Everyone got some useful and now it's disappointment as the only reward.
[b]TL;DR Now that ascendant materials are legendary everything else in the raid has a lower shot.[/b]

1 ReplyAgree. The loot drop system is poor. I have one character of each class. All characters seem to get the same kind of gear/drops over multiple raids. My character of choice, hunter, gets materials, boots+gloves, or the sniper. Mostly shards. Other people get the chest piece over and over, or materials each week, consistently, over several weeks. The major feature is people seem to get the same kinds of drops over multiple raids. Maybe over an infinite set of raids we'd see a random range of gear, but none of us will ever last that long. The titan and warlock get chest/legs/arms and other weapon drops. In two passes of the raid, they get complete sets to reach lvl 30. Over 4 passes each, I nearly have two sets armor for each of them. My hunter is stuck at 29 even having done _more_ raids with her. Realistically what is the chance of this kind of clustering for _each_ character over multiple runs of VoG? I've also seen people get a double post of the same reward (an exotic gun), whilst I also get the same duplicate reward (materials) right at the same point in the raid together. For the dailies I get shards 80% of the time. For public events I get shards close to the same percentage. This has been consistent for two weeks over all characters. Seriously, this is crap loot pool design and/or buggy use of RNG. I am unmotivated to do VoG for the hunter because the 'rewards' feel nothing short of a giant tree up my ass. I go in glum and come out in an even darker mood. way to go bungie.

I agree. I believe they need to lower energy/shard chance and increase gear chance or place material back to rare. The set up does jot work well. Past 3 weeks i got noting BUT shards and energy(now at 151 energy) and it is outragous. Lower them back to rare or lower the drop rate on shards and energy. It gets annoying i get jack crap in drops and get shit in return

1 ReplyIt's even more ridiculous when u consider a public event almost always gives you ascendent material. I know not always, but still, do a few more quickly by using the event tracker site and you're bound to get some pretty quickly. Not to mention you also will likely receive ascendent material from the messenger after your first public event of the day is completed. That being said, it's a slap in the face to spend so much more time and effort (in contrast to the aforementioned events) running through the raids to only leave w that mess, especially once you've reached 30! They should place some sort of parameter in the coding that tells the game, if player receiving loot is at max level and/or is holding max gear, give alternate items (instead of more of the same gear, shards, or energy)

The funny part...after killing the boss I got 3 energies for my efforts. Why are just shards or energies even a boss reward? Oh I forgot, I got another Chatterwhite. I've got so much Chatterwhite I'm being investigated by Homeland Security. But honestly, even by you can't be convinced homers, think about it. You go through all that FAP from start to finish, you beat the boss to end the game...your reward for your efforts...3 energies. This game is a joke. I've given more than enough time to this game to know. Played everything it has to offer. Lived through 8 zoos, 2 aquariums, and Marion Berry. And not just for a day or two. We are talking weeks. But after tonight, that Raid was the straw that broke the camels back. That was just beyond demoralizing. I don't think failed promises and the DLC are enough to keep me playing anymore. Just have to accept the fact that my good faith in a company I once respected has waned tremendously...I have a lot of wasted effort and time on my hands. My fault I know cuz I should have moved on well before this. Damn. Good night folks. Edit: About to shut down, was moving some stuff around...I noticed my almost mission completed Depleted Hand Cannon bounty for some reason is now back to 0 kills of 500 completed. Why is it reset all the way back to this? Was it my honest post and this is your way of getting one more jab in? LOL This is just icing on the cake man. C'mon, enough already.

3 RepliesUnfortunately thats not how the drops work. Its not all things legendary or over can drop. The raid has a specific loot pool that it pulls from at random. Chests and bosses have different pools. Now maaaaybe they messed with the percentages of getting exotics etc, but the changing of shards and energies to legendary shouldn't have any actual effect on what drops.

1 ReplyI also believe ascend material should become rare, If I get the same item I would break it down and then get my ascend material. I done two whole raids on normal and that's all I got was ascend material. On the 3rd time I got hard light, and then after that it's all I been getting are boots and ascend material. So the pre-loading loot table I'm getting isn't great at all it needs work.

Just need to look at the data mining sites. all weapons and armour have a quality rating. Does that = drop chance? Shards and energy do not have a quality rating, and thus have infinite or lowest quality. this means more likely to drop as the weighting system. I think they messed it up then too

I think shards and energy need to be rare again, getting them for raid and nightfall drops is just wrong.. I don't mind the first chest being energy or shards because that is easy to get to, but the rest should be legendary or exotic weapons/armor only

I've done the raid every single week on normal since release on my hunter plus 4 times on hard all the way through. Still haven't gotten raid gauntlets. Did the raid and my teammate got 2 gauntlets after oracles ( we did it on hard so you get loot from hard and normal) and then a 3rd pair after Templar. At least have a trading system in the raid with loot dropped during that secession

Think it's just bad luck. The first few weeks I got nothing but shards and energy, this past week I've gotten pretty lucky, and with only two characters. Timepiece, voc, thunderlord, 1st timebreaker, still lots of energy and shards of course. Also gorgons chest today some guys got icebreaker and hawk Think I only raided once pre rahool fix so maybe not the best judge

3 RepliesGood theory, they really should limit their presence in the higher difficulties and make them on par with blue items. I ran three raids last week and only got two lmgs and a Hunter chest. I really feel we need better drops from a mode that takes that much effort.

I hot the 3 bits of raid gear I needed this week from the hard raid. Now lv30. The loot system is crazy, horrible at times. But when it does finally work in your favour, it's an amazing feeling.
