Now, people have to use tactics and out think each other instead of playing like its a twitch shooter.
I camp a lot as a bladedancer and mostly only use a fusion rifle or a shotgun. It gets me lots of kills, lets me control parts of the map, and contribute massively to my team.
If you don't like campers, adapt. There is no need to be upset that someone got you with a shotgun or a fusion rifle. They simply outplayed you, mush like how bladedancers and strikers usually do during their supers.
Try again, adapt, and keep on playing. I'll be waiting around the corner again.
How does the diversity of gameplay tactics make you feel? What do you do?

Adapt or die.

I love when people claim to be good at PVP while posting on an unlinked account so we can't see their K/D.

Edited by MAGNETBOY258: 11/14/2014 5:13:17 PMwhen you camp it's not outplaying someone. it's cause you don't have skill to run around and kill people. it doesn't take much skill to sit in a corner and sit there until the mini map turns red and then start precharching your insta kill fusion rifle.
-
a good player would earn the kills not farm them from one spot that's not tactics that's you being lazy and ruining the fun for others

Edited by Cat_and_Rabbit: 11/14/2014 10:43:00 AMI love a battle against someone who has got a great spot. That back corner on venus (near the b pont) had this one guy who was really effin good with the sniper rifle. I must have died 10 times before I found a blind spot to get close enough to take them out. It was fun even though he teabagged me relentlessly haha

I really have to agree with you (though I im not sure if I have run across this particular form of camping) running across guys with different playing styles than the classic "run around and shoot" has forced me to rethink my playing style and try to adapt to the people I'm facing. And I can't really fault you for doing why is the primary purpose of the game which is "get as many kills as possible" your just doing it a different way than I do. One thing that iv had to learn to do is to play the level rather than the other team. It really makes the match more interesting. That doesn't mean I hate you any less when you kill me though lol.
-
Finally, someone I can agree with. Camping is simply a tactical choice. As you said, you can control your section of the map thus forcing your enemy to adapt to your presence. I'm terrible at running and gunning. I freely admit it. But it doesn't make less me of a person or player because I choose to fight a battle on my terms, in a location of my choosing.

I run in to camper teams on Skirmish the most...it does get frustrating when you are constantly having to run to them to engage and they can cover all points, but eventually you can pick one off and separate the heard then it's time to feast on the scattered cattle. Just a different type of play style nothing to get upset about and not impossible to overcome and honestly if I run into a camper skirmish team and we get the lead I try to get my team to fall back and force them to engage us.
-
I don't really see camping as an issue in this game. It can be done but its not as easy as other games. Bungie gave us lots of options to counter camping. Camping snipers on a few maps are the worst of them and even then they are easy enough to find and kill. Plus the motion sensor isn't as accurate about target acquisition as games that out right show player location.

Edited by boff: 11/14/2014 2:12:16 PMdoes camping exist, with the constant radar on it takes camping out of the game, yes you are sat in a corner/side of doorway, but everybody knows, if people decide to run in and get killed, its there own fault. People seem to think if you are not running around like a headless chicken making yourself a easy target, then you are camping. Staying in one area for a few minutes isnt camping, holding down a control point/area of map is not camping, sitting in a corner for five minutes waiting for someone to run passed is camping, but, you cant really do that in this game with the constant radar. oh and sniping is sniping, its never camping, if people were running around with snipers, pretty sure everyone would complain about that too, snipers are meant to sit back.

i dont mind campers. i get a lot of pleasure in taking them down after they have stung me once or twice.....or 5 times if my brain isnt working :)
-
Hey, y'all. Just curious how y'all felt.
-
Absolutely. TTK is long and trying to match a auto rifles to a shotgun/fusion rifle in close range is stupid. If a corner camper is there, I use grenades, supers, rockets or i flank around and gain a long line of sight.
-
let the camp fires BURN, gardian.... the speaker told me this. for real.
-
I don't really agree with camping for an entire match, but OP is right about tactics. Just like Halo before it, being good at Destiny PvP is pretty much about knowing when to run and when to camp and how to be opportunistic. Especially when you're playing clash or rumble. If you run about all game you might make it through only 1 or 2 fights before you die. The time to kill in destiny is long. So your twitch shooting skills will only carry you so far. If someone catches you after dealing with another player, they'll now you down regardless of whether you react faster. And they will catch you! Because hearing shooting and seeing red on the radar is like ringing the dinner bell. So what the skilled player does after a close 1v1, is pull out the shotgun, find an advantageous area, and camp! Wait near doorways with the shottie, retreat and drag them into a corner trap, find an unexpected spot to rocket or fusion people from. Just do anything you cab to engage on your own terms while you're weak and people are coming for you. Then once your shield has recharged, or you're dead? Off you go hunting again. Tactics innit?
-
i just adapt to campers and flush them out and make them quit, pretty simple lol
