The Fallen and Gender.
This quiz is intended to start a discussion of the gender roles of only the Fallen.
What we know: the Fallen are an insectoid race with a rigid hierarchy. They are scavengers, but used to rule a highly advanced civilization. The Fallen are referred to with masculine pronouns (he him his) by humans/awoken/exos/ghosts who don't really know anything about the Fallen. The queen of the Reef conquered a Fallen house, allegedly by killing its Kell.
Options:
1. The Fallen workers and warriors are all females who follow a Queen (the Kell). The male or drone Fallen are hidden in areas of the Ketch that are never seen in game. This is similar to ants and other communal insects.
2. Fallen genders look very similar, and freely mix together. This is seen in some insects like crickets. The problem is that these insects don't have a social hierarchy.
3. The Fallen are truly alien, and reproduce in some way that doesn't require genders.
4. This is intended for those who equally like two or more of the other answers, who don't care, or who have a different idea as to the nature of the Fallen. Feedback is welcome.
Edit1: I am aware of the gender pronouns used by characters in the game and grimoire. Just because a character claims to be able to tell the fallen genders apart, doesn't mean that they can do so. In other words, Cayde and ghost can't be trusted to use the correct gender pronouns.
Edit 2: this post is about Fallen GENDER and division of labor, not sexuality.

7 RepliesNope. Dead wrong on all fronts. Y'all have access to google right? The fallen are reptilian creatures, they are even capable of growing back their lower arms, which dreggs have docked as a sign of subservience. They live off of ether which is what you see spray out when they are killed with a critical. The more ether the larger a Fallen can grow, fallen leaders are given larger portions of ether. Ether is generated by servitors, who are treated like gods of a sort. Female Fallen look no different from males because lizards don't need tits. Their big differences would probably be in color, but you can't see their skin well through all that armor and augmentation.

Actually they have put fallen women in the game. You have Drevis, the wolf baroness from the house of wolves. Shes a captain and you can find her by patroling the cosmodrome. Shes a bountie. Queens wrath. Location is in the forgotten shore.

Edited by halflux: 11/8/2016 5:38:50 AMI honestly would like to think that the Fallen behave more like mammal than insect, having a pack mentality rather than a swarm mentality like the Hive or Vex. They are alien after all and we can only guess at their society and culture. I chose to believe that Cyde-6 and the ghost are right, genders are distinguishable by sight or sound. With that in mind I also believe that like like early tribal human society they would have a hierarchy based partly on gender (matriarchy/patriarchy) and partly on meritocracy. I would honestly like to see a story line in future DLC about an all female House of Fallen that kick tremendous ass.

10 RepliesI think maybe Fallen females look different from Fallen males, but Bungie have been too lazy to implement genders for the races, so we're pretty much going up against males all the time. The Fallen seem like they had quite a noble kinda air about them at one point, maybe Females didn't fight battles at all. They probably don't have much choice now though. We'll never truly know the lore behind these races. Because Bungie is too lazy to make this new universe they've created, interesting and rich. I highly doubt Bungie will ever give these Races much lore in the coming 10 years. The next game will come out, it'll have a potentially horrible story, some slight lore for the races and the worlds. And that's your lot. Rinse and repeat. I'd personally have liked to see variation from one Cabal fatass to the other cabal fatass standing next to it. Dregs that don't all look the exact same. genders. Emotions. tactics. Souls. We might as well be shooting Robots like the vex.

Other than some minor differences they likely look the same. Any major difference in appearance among the fallen is due to the amount of ether that they are given.
