How did Kabr open the Vault?

The VoG Grimoire card says a Guardian named Kabr opened the Vault himself before perishing inside. But how did he open it himself?

  • Let's face it, he punched it open.

Considering that the guy was enough of a badass that he managed to convince a gorgon that IT didn't exist by beating it to death (then presumably built the shield just by punching it. It moulded itself out of terror), I wouldn't be surprised if Kabr just punched the doors to the Vault open and that he had affectionate nicknames for his fists (hence "no one was with me, but I was not alone"). Then he punched the Templar so hard that its shield broke and it teleported somewhere with a smaller chance of getting punched by Kabr. Then he went to the Gorgons' labyrinth. Punched one to death, made his cool shield. Punched and shield bashed another Gorgon until it led him to the two chests and the exit. Then punched it to death. There used to a be a large structure/bridge at the "jumping puzzle" but it was crawling with praetorians. Kabr punched all of them so hard that the only things left are chunks that keep popping in and out of the present. (Kabr was infamous for punching things so hard that the surroundings would sometimes become temporal anomalies). Vex scrambled to build the Mythoclast to kill him. Considering that Atheon is made entirely out of glass the Vex, being too far in the future to conveniently bombard Bungie with threads demanding that Kabr's fists get nerfed, really didn't want him anywhere near Atheon. Think about it. Punched the front door open. Punched a nigh omnipotent gorgon to death. Punch-built shield. Giant robot made out of glass? If Kabr got anywhere near Atheon he'd have one hit killed the giant shiny bastard. Kabr took one look at the Mythoclast, declared "OMFG OP AS -blam!-" punched himself to extract his own light, then punched it into the shield, making the ultimate weapon against the (understandably terrified and confused) Vex. Then Kabr died, performing an incredibly noble sacrifice that would aid the guardians to come after him in shutting down the Vault of Glass. But not without punching a praetorian so hard that three praetorians near it died while flipping off Atheon. His ghost was reluctant to leave him. But the Vanguard had to be informed, and Kabr would definitely have punched him if he didn't GTFO. Fast forward to now. Sensing guardians attempting to succeed where he failed, Kabr, now the shield, punches his way back into reality, his cleansing awesomeness nullifying the pesky green fanatic goo. All while the Templar and the Oracle endeavour to get rid of him. The Templar foolishly determined that it should just concentrate on killing the guardians, rather than trying to suppress Kabr. A fatal mistake. Now free, guardians are able to punch with him. (L1/LB to punch Oracle marks away, and punch away enemy damage. R1/RB to do a light punch. R2/RT to do big punch. L1/LB + R1/RB to do a REALLY REALLY big punch when Kabr wants to punch the Templar). The reason why two shields show up at the final Conflux? Kabr was a sporting man, but he's do eager to punch Atheon that he temporarily lets you use his other "fist" to kill all the scrubs (a level 30 praetorian to you and I, is a level 1 shank to Kabr.) Time's Vengeance is his way of telling all of you to "punch" Atheon as hard as possible. Once Atheon goes down, Kabr takes his leave. Lurking in the timestream. Waiting for Vex to punch. TL:DR version Kabr solves every problem with punching. EDIT: Was genuinely not expecting the "stupid stuff I like to make up about Destiny to make my mates laugh" type stuff to get so many likes/replies Thank you :)

    • He used his sparrow to glitch through the door. Later, the Vex realized their lapse in security and installed a wall that would only dissapear if the front door opened legitimately. Obvi. :)

    • The lore says that the oracles purged his firearm from existence, if you can add two and two and figure that out. Kabr destroyed one and drank of it's 'blood'. But his team was just like 'Ew bro', and tempy was all like 'OUT OF MY HOUSE' and he booted them suckers so hard. But there was a problem with destiny's servers and they all lost their characters. So then Kabr unfriended them and soloed up to the gorgons, but couldn't find a way through. Sad tale.

      • According to Kabr he entered opened the Vault himself, yet he was not alone. His fireteam fell to the gorgons so they do not exist nor does he know their names

        • Maybe the vault is just atheon's room, which will open simply by approaching Or his fire team was erased from existence

Kabr the Legionless was one of the most powerful Guardians in history. It's any speculation as to how he opened the vault. As somebody mentioned earlier, it may have been possible that the rest of his fireteam had been erased from existence by The Templar, the Oracles, and the Gorgons. If they no longer existed, than he wouldn't even remember them. Thats why, although he says that nobody was with him, there's something missing from his memory, and all he recalls are blank figures, running, shooting, and helping him. So, although he can no longer recall the names or faces of his comrades, pieces of his memory show him that he was, indeed, never alone. When they encountered the Templar the darkness was too strong, and Kabr and his presumed fireteam were outmatched by the Templar and its Oracles. One by one, the Oracles and the Templar erased his team. This explains how he knows what the Oracles and the Templar are able to do, without having had to experience it himself. Kabr, and possibly one other, only survived because, in a last-ditch attempt, their Ghosts used all of their light to cleanse the darkness from their masters' bodies before it could negate them from existence. This sacrifice was what killed his Ghost, which is why he says that they have taken his Ghost from him. After Kabr and his remaining comrade escaped from the Templar's domain, they encountered the Gorgons. Knowing that the forces inside the Vault were beyond reality, they attempted to use stealth to pass by them, but were caught by one of them. They responded with overwhelming force and destroyed the Gorgon, but at the cost of his final teammate. After destroying the Gorgon, he became insanely curious and obsessed with the reality-bending powers of these Vex, and took its body with him, to fashion it into armor. He believed that, by wearing these Vex's armor, he would be unkillable, and might even gain their power. Determined to see the axis mind of these powerful Vex, he made his way to the Glass Throne, and fought the forces inside to awaken it. However, when he became marked by the void, that is when he started to feel the Darkness consume him. He opened the second gate, killed the gatekeeper, then noticed the massive change to the area, and surmised that the two portals were of the past and the future. As his vision was nearly gone, he saw the massive glasslike Vex known as Atheon appear before him. He then knew that time was being warped in this place because of the Darkness. He wanted to know if there was any weakness or counter to this temporal force, a way to fight back against the darkness that was controlling time: Light. Light, fused into the nearly indestructible armor of the Gorgons, would be impossible for the Darkness to consume. He took the remaining armor from the dead Gorgon, fashioned it into a shield, then took the light from his dying body and infused it into the shield, then, as Atheon attempted to send him into the Timestream to be lost within time, Kabr sent the shield into the Timestream instead, along with his final words and curse. Unlike the rest of this presumed fireteam, Kabr was not erased by the Vault. Instead, he simply fought until the darkness began to consume him. That's why, although nobody remembers Kabr's team, they remember Kabr, and thus remember him as "The Legionless."

            • Kabr began experimenting with vex components and during his time in the vault inadvertently caused an anomaly where both past present and future versions of himself were present. Each version held a portion of what would become Kabr's armor and the shield artifact when they finally made physical contact with each other they fused becoming the relic. Kabr died fighting and faded out of reality all the while never ceasing to fight and always struggling in his final moments his shear will became the curse that would help guardians defeat Atheon. This is just my version of filling in the blanks between Grimoire cards.

He didn't open it by himself. It's in the grimoire. The quote is something like "I opened the door by myself but I was not alone" This is an ode to my theory that the door can be opened if players are standing in the correct places. Not just in front of it. The templars well, for example, is way too polished to hold no significance and so far holds none. Also, it's important to remember the spire door is not the vault of glass. The vault of glass is atheon's room.

              • Their titan sacrificed his light to cleanse them when they didn't understand the oracles and their attack on atheon was a complete failure. He wandered, confused and alone before deciding not to die, then punched all his light into a gorgron. Over and over leaving him weakened, yet introducing light to a place void of it. This is his legacy. He was erased from existence like all before him but his essence, his light, lives on in the shield, now a permanent glitch in the time loop. The only one to live was pahinan, wielder of the icebreaker, only reason we know what happened, yet he wasn't with them at atheon and even he couldn't remember his team after atheon erased them.

              • He was alone. No other fire team members. But because it's not in real time, he was there with his past and present self. So he was alone but he wasn't.

He had a full fireteam, as each one of them fell they were erased from existence so he didn't remember them hence the saying. He was alone in the end, but not alone throughout, praedyth was with him hence the sniper, etc etc. Noones going through the vault alone. Also he got to atheon again and killed the gorgron by wearing vex armor over his own confusing them.

                • Kabr did have a fireteam but the gorgons erased them for time so they didnt exist. When he says "no one was with me, but I wasn't alone" is because the team was deleted from time he has no memory of them but he does remember that someone was there.
