The Mechanics of Orbs of Light

TL;DR - Orbs from supers charged from normal kills > Orbs from supers charged from other supers

    • I love how useful posts like these get almost nonrecognition, but the asshat who says he's a real level 30 gets 200 comments. Anyway, This is really interesting... I noticed something was amiss, but wasn't able to figure out why. Ive been charged completely by only five orbs. But other times three orbs didn't seem to do much at all. Great post, I was actually just searching to see if anyone has done a guide for newbies on Orbs. Its one of the most common questions I hear from new players--"What are orbs light?" One thing I cant seem to figure out is at the end of a strike it says Orbs of Light in the summary, but that number is not how many I created and Im fairly sure its not how many I Picked up, either. I also wonder if alpha lupi has any effect on the strength of orbs.

      • Thanks for the lesson!! I have one question though, something I have long investigated but been unable to solve conclusively: When orbs are dropped, (lets say three orbs) are those 3 orbs available to the entire community, and the first person who runs over them will pick them up, taking them out of the world and into their super meter? Or Are three orbs produced for each guardian? You see orbs on the ground, and just as with ammo, engrams, those little quest pyramids, and every other object on the ground, those are yours alone to pick up. I guess what I am asking is when an orb is produced, is that one orb for each guardian in the community or one orb for the community to share?

        • Interesting. So I guess that's to make sure that a team can't continually chain supers? Seems like it would make more sense for it just to generate less orbs though rather than generating the same number of orbs which are just less powerful.
