Suggestion: Raid Coins / Currency

If I could make one change to the PVE environment of Destiny it would be to add Raid Currency (Premium Currency) for successfully completing a raid each week. Lets call them "Raid Coins", lets say that when you complete a raid (or hit a checkpoint each week) you get raid coins. Raid coins can be traded in at a raid vendor to purchase raid gear. Instead of making raid gear 100% RNG you give players the ability to purchase them over time if the destiny gods have not rolled in their favour. an example. Raid Gauntlets: 24 Raid Coins Raid Helmet: 30 Raid Coins etc. Each week completing the Raid on Hard gives you 4 coins, completing it on Normal gives you 2 Raid Coins this gives you the potential to earn 24 raid coins a month, meaning if no raid armour dropped, you can at least buy a piece of gear from a vendor after a month of raiding, so you didn't just waste a month raiding for nothing. you can even mix it up, only award raid coins if raid armour didn't drop and then allow for raid armour to be dismantled and give you back some raid coins. this makes raiding worthwhile, because I know then that at least if nothing drops, I will be able to definitely get something I need after I put in a bunch of hard work. This gives me something to aim for, rather than being in my current situation, where I cba with the raid any more because after doing it every week since launch, all that has dropped for me is raid gauntlets once (in the first week) and 3 of the same shotgun (2 in the same game). I currently have a vault and inventory filled with legendary and exotic weapons, literally the only aim I have is to get raid gear and I only have 1 shot a week to get it, the last few weeks I have done the raid were 100% pointless, I gained absolutely nothing beneficial for it, sure i got shards and ascendant energy, I have 50 of each already, I don't need them, I have nothing to upgrade with them. So this option would be nice, and be a good way at keeping people interested in raiding.

  • Bump. This is a pretty good idea. I've been running the raid a minimum of three times a week since launch, sometimes more depending on whether or not I can find a hard mode group, and I'm still missing two pieces of gear. One of my friends ended up getting all his gear in two runs. Him and I started playing around the same time, and have roughly the same amount of playtime in the raid, yet he has two thirties and I'm having a terrible time even getting one. I even made a second Warlock to have more chances of getting the gear I need. A way to buy the gear would be nice. It definitely shouldn't be easy to buy, the way you said would be fair, I believe. To prevent farming, they could make it so that every boss dropped one coin; Orcales, Templar, gatekeeper, and Atheon on hard. Then Templar and Atheon on normal. Just so people couldn't go straight to Atheon and get four coins. Then they would have to make it so that you couldn't share coins between characters. Either this, or fix the RNG so gear you already have has a slightly less chance to drop, and gear you don't have gets a slight increase to drop after you obtain your first piece of gear.

    • My buddy and I were saying there needs to be a system outside of the raid to get gear or weapons, and your idea is the most feasible I have heard. the currency is a good idea and its similar to what they plan to do with the getting iron banner exp even when losing. I have been through the raid countless times and the one piece of raid gear that you need to be lv 30 (boots) I have not got but my friends on their first couple tries got at least three each. I just want my warlock to be lv 30!
