If you say "People didn't earn something...."

People earn their weapons/armour. I am confused about posts that say "you didn't earn this", "you didn't earn that", "Xur should be removed", etc. etc. etc. If you did a Tiger Strike and it dropped - you earned it by fighting your way through to the end If you did Nightfall and it dropped - you earned it by fighting your way through to the end If you did 28 Weekly and it dropped - you earned it by fighting your way through to the end If you did the Raid - you earned it If you bought it from Xur - you earned those strange coins by doing numerous events The only exception I would say is a random drop in the Crucible, where you get something no matter how good or bad you played. That's not really "earned" as such..... but playing over and over and over in PvP, some people might consider it "earning by enduring PvP" Long and short of it .... playing is earning, noone should be upset someone else is getting stuff they already have as it does not affect their game in any way. This is mainly a PvE game where you HELP each other. That's my tuppence on it. EDIT 1: Thank you Gaslight. Yes, Exotic Bounties also count. An oversight on my part. EDIT 2: Thank you Maledious. I do not advocate AFK players getting rewards. EDIT 3: I apologise if this post seemed like a complaint. It wasn't. I only seek to understand people's feelings on the matter and try to make us a more tolerant and better community. EDIT 4: Please post why you are upset that other people get gear and you don't. Does it affect your game? It is more of an affront to the time you have put in and gotten nothing from it? EDIT 5: Changed "tired" to "confused about" as the original word didn't really reflect my intentions.

Really depends on what you think the meaning of "earn" is. Earn: verb 1. To gain or get in return for one's labor or service. Dictionary.com I guess you can make the argument that by killing a creature you technically earned an item drop. However the area in wich you got the item doesn't mater so i wouldn't say that by getting a legendary engram drop from a strike or mission you "earned" it. Truth is its all RNG. I think the only items you can "earn" are the items you buy from grinding rep, items sold by zur if you grinded the weekly strike, and maybe some of the items from the raid. But even the raid loot is a bit of a stretch if everyones just cheesing it. Otherwise nothing in this game is earned. Do you earn max level in this game? Some people would argue being level 30 is earned but in reality it isn't. It's all if you got lucky on your role. I've known some really good raiders that couldn't get 30 not because they weren't good but because they simply didn't get lucky (myself included :( ). I've also met some 30s that are horrible players haha. In short skill and effort doesn't really have a factor in the items you get so i would say that most things in this game aren't "earned ".
