I've done this a few times. The typical result I experience is anger and frustration. I will see a path that leads up into the rocks only to find an invisible wall blocking it or a nice high perch to take in the scenery that is blocked by the invisible ceiling. I agree the game is gorgeous and large but why tease us with all this open land to explore only to block it off with invisible walls. Nothing breaks my immersion more than artificial limitations. They easily could have used the terrain itself to limit exploration.
