Why?

Dear Bungie, What the heck is going on? Every update/patch/hotfix has introduced problems that were not in the previous version. This is really becoming unacceptable. As a software architect and systems administrator, who has developed and managed infrastructure for billion dollar internet sales companies, I find it very hard to understand why these problems arise every time you push out an update. These issues should be caught by an internal or partial-external QA process before they are pushed out. I fully understand the logistics of testing such a large roll-out, but with the right procedures, processes, checks, and balances in place, there is absolutely no reason why these errors should ever make their way to your production environment. I played this game without incident up until the first update on September 25th, which caused so many issues. This update (or some part of it) corrupted my primary character so I could no longer play it. At that time, I was able to create a secondary character and work on that instead while I waited. Two weeks later, you finally fixed that problem and I could play on my Warlock again. So I've been playing for the past 3 weeks or so, with only an occasional connectivity issue, which has been fairly acceptable. Then all of a sudden today, I was kicked off XBOX Live and when I logged back in, I was forced to download an update to the XBOX system. After doing that, I was promptly told I needed to download the latest update for Destiny. Since that time, I have received the MONKEY error almost every 30 minutes or so it seems. Occasionally, I have also experienced the WEASEL error after the monkey error. This is nuts!!! I've been playing just fine for weeks, and this update all of a sudden messes everything up... I'm hard-wired with CAT6E Gigabit Ethernet to a 24 port in-home switch with a 48 Gigabit back-plane, facilitating the ability to support a 1 Gigabit full-duplex, consistent data stream on all 24 ports. From there, I am wired directly into an Internet router, and out through a cable internet connection supporting 50mb/5mb (down/up), with an average latency of less than 40ms to most everywhere on the internet besides your organization... I have attached a screen shot of my pathping results, where you can see that my connection to (at least www.bungie.net) is near perfect. My networking setup is nearly perfect and optimal. Can you please answer the question "why"? Why do you continue to add new features to the game without resolving the bugs and issues first? All features/enhancements/additions should be on hold until you are able to release updates without causing problems Why does every update include new bugs that have not been tested and signed off on by your QA department? Every single change being made to the app should be documented and tested rigorously before updates are pushed out. If possible, updates should be tested "behind the scenes" using real player traffic, before being moved into the primary code path. Why can't we see an update/hotfix without seeing related errors? I just don't get it. -Peas

    • Yeah sad thing is they always respond with the same lame link as always on how to configure your network. They have no clue how to fix the problem. Each update it just gets worse. This was the most horrid Iron Banner week I have played with lag, connection issues and weasel errors all because they wanted to get rid of some cheese. Now, people still cheese but they are like run crota however you like. ????? I jyst wish they would get priorities straight. Servers first and then other issues in game itself. Vault space is awful. I need more room, not another ugly ship or shader.

    • I'm about ready to say -blam!- it and just not play till they release new dlc or better yet actually fix this shit. I finally got a chance to do the raid with my friends, but with so much disconnections i don't want to be a burden on my group. Was so excited to finish my exotic bounties this week but i can't even stay on for more then 15 minutes without losing connection due to caterpillar errors. And now i officially hate caterpillars, i'm going to burn those little shits any time i see one. You turned me into a caterpillar murderer, they'll never get to become butterflies bungie. how does that make you feel?

      • THANK GOD! I mean thank you for that post this is more evidence that it is bungie who is at fault for these errors and connection problems. I have had actual engineers look at my systems/network and such. They all say the problem are coming from bungies end. But they still claim its not their fault and we the customers are at fault or at least our systems or ISP are at fault

                      Noone is giving them any credit for putting baby bumpers in the voc. Thats programing genius if u ask me. Sure after they did that some stopped getting rewards for dailies,weeklies,nightfall and vog , some lost their exotics, some their characters. Some just cant play but come on people atheon and templar got bumpers!!!! Keep up the unbelievable work bungie.

                        To anyone backing up bungie saying they're under a lot of pressure from the community. You're wrong. This game has supposively won over 180 awards, but what for? A crap loot system, rubbish servers? Probably the most problems I've ever experienced within a game, literally this game is a massive flop compared to what it was bigged up to be. Well done bungie, well done.

                        • Bungie fix your -blam-ing servers I got disconnected again. At the end of a night fall after I soloed it and while I had to wait for it to say mission end I got disconnected while it took me forever to complete. I am tired of this u say u will fix but where is the proof the only thing you have said to us is "we r sorry for the inconvenience and we are currently investigating this issue". From now on I will tell all my friends not to get the game

                          • I never once was kicked or had any sort of error messages (Besides launch night of course) until this last patch. Now it's Bee, Weasel, Banjo, and those types of messages. I haven't been able to start/finish anything in 3 days. Tried going to a couple of my friends houses today because we usually raid on Saturdays and we have all gotten the same codes at almost the same time. It's not Internet. We were running exactly what Bungie had said you would need to enjoy the game. Please Bungie fix the servers first. Don't tell us about An expansion coming in about a month, I'd rather a statement be made from the Developers about this issue than DLC.
