Just my Rant

FIRST! This is a rant. Read it or don't i don't care. I just wanted to vomit my opinion some where All right now to the real meat of my rant. When this game was first announced it was shown with story line and deep lore in mind. The e3 trailer made this game look like it was going to have one of the most in depth story I have seen in a long time. It wasn't until much closer to launch that their focuses seemed to turn towards PVP. Which at the time meant nothing in my mind, I new the PVP would be well done because it was Bungie. Now before I go any farther, It was made by BUNGIE!! We all knew it would have a focus on PVP. That's not the point of my rant, the point is that the part they showed more than anything was that they had this epic story line. As it stands now, this game misses so many chances to show off its lore and it just completely ignores the chance. Let me give you an example I'm sure you are all well aware of. Cut scene starts. No ability to skip it. Meaning you, the gamer, are a captive audience. They have all the time in the world to explain things instead you get, "I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain". That line is the most frustrating thing i have ever heard in any thing ever, books tv, movies, doesn't matter. If a book had this line in you better believe the next page is going to be intense. No, destiny follows that line with about a minute of dramatic pause. When the "stranger" could have been explaining instead of adding to the annoyance by saying nothing. Or another fan favourite from our faceless man who dares go by the name of "speaker", "I could explain... I could tell you...". HE IS THE SPEAKER FOR F##KS SAKE! Now Bungie and many die hard fans will say, Read the Gimoire! It has all you need... I have read the Grimoire cards, while they add little tidbits of info to the confusing horribly explained story line, they only server to increase my frustration with the lack of story this game has. The Grimoire cards on the traveller are written in riddles and cryptic poems. The card on the "stranger" basically says "She is a stranger" The one on the darkness says "that's its name, we don't know why or how" Now stepping back a bit, Bungie state they have a "ten year plan." I look at that as a ten year plan for all of Destiny, not just this first instalment which honestly feels like a massive beta test for Destiny 2. Maybe that's exactly what it is, this game is a test to see what works and what players want. When I think of great games, they all have a few things in common, a gripping story, a lot of lore, and tons of stuff to do to learn more about those two things. Why do people still play Fallout 3, 6 years after its initial release? Because there was more to the game than a short hardly explained story line. Now I realize that's not exactly a fair comparison because fallout 3 is a single player game but the concepts of how to keep a player engaged has been fully utilized in that game. I would also like to mention that fallout 3 was buggy as hell, and still is. even with unreleased updates and bug fixes. When new content came out for Fallout 3 it was NEW CONTENT. Not just the same stuff recycled with a bumped difficulty level. Now I know that there hasn't truly been a DLC released for destiny yet but shouldn't the base game keep you interested until the DLC is launched? We all heard the stories of how Bungie had the biggest budget of any game imaginable for destiny, I can't help but feel that budget was used poorly. This "ten year plan" we have all heard of better have some real focus on the now if they intend to have people care at all by this time next year. As the first game of a series this game falls short of expectations. I was hopping for a game I could play for a long time and get excited for the new instalments. Now I am just hopping it doesn't get worse. If you are still reading I thank you for your time, and now I must finish with a disclaimer. As far as FPS MMO's go this game does pretty well. I still play because my friends play and its a good place to meet up and screw around when we can't actually meet in person. However, we have all noticed the topic's we discus in game shifting towards, "where is the game" rather than, "Check out this game" It has been around a month and a half since this game Launched and we are bored with it. Even my friend who is a die hard PVP guy says, "I just want a good even competition, if you can just easily blow the other guy out of the water its not fun." He also said once, "I gets his hands on Halo MCC he is most likely done with Destiny." Don't even get me started on Dinkle bot. He sounds just as clueless as all of us. Except for his line "Oh we have heard the legends" NO. I have not. Because I was dead for an unknown time during unexplained events because of unexplained causes. Fur an unknown length of time. All that said, I don't hate the game or Bungie, I just want Bungie to see that their audience is hopping for more. Lets all hope Bungie gets some good content for us soon or Destiny may become a ghost town sooner than anyone was expecting. (sure this isn't my best writing but like a said its a rant. I just wanted to write it down some where it has the rarest chance of being seen by some one that shares my view)
