Relic Holder Strategy - Post Atheon Patch
I've read a few relic holder hierarchy strategies and would like to pose my own. Let me know what you think.
Split your group into 3 categories
Top Tier: 2 most proficient relic holders. All top tier members immediately attempt to pick up the relic when teleported. Who gets it doesn't matter b/c this group is solid relic players only.
2nd Tier: 2 players that can manage the relic if need be. 2nd tier players attempt to pick up the relic 1 second after teleport. This gives top tier time to pick it up but doesn't waste time figuring out if your top tier guys are with you or still outside.
3rd Tier: 2 players will not need to ever pick up the relic. Since 3 are teleported there will always be at least one member from one of the higher tiers. 3rd tier players can immediately focus on the adds and get set up for oracles.
You can adjust the numbers to have 1 top & 3 2nds, or 3 tops & 1 2nd, or even 4 tops depending on your group.
You don't have to be concerned about 1 through 6 rankings or figuring out who is teleported and who is not. This also prevents everyone talking over each other after every teleport. You either always immediately pick it up, pick it up after 1 second, or don't touch it.
Thoughts??
Edit: You may want to consider putting gunslingers or those with oracle damage weapons in the third tier to always be shooters. Third tier doesn't mean you are bad with the relic, rather your responsibility is oracles. (Thanks aficionadont)

This is a great idea, especially if you also take into account who is better equipped for killing oracles, and possibly put them in a lower relic tier.

1 ReplyEdited by what's the frequency,: 10/28/2014 6:28:30 PMPerfect. The only other thing I would say is you might tweak this to represent excellent relic accompanying classes. In other words, even if you excel at the relic, if you're a good accompanying class at killing the adds, you might be a tier lower to represent a better priority. For example, we have two hunters. Golden Gun is, in my opinion, the best class to have go into the portal and not carry the relic. Golden gun kills the minotaur almost instantly or kills all three hobgoblins before they can react. Sometimes you even have a GG leftover to pop an oracle or an add on the Venus portal. I'd imagine warlocks are similar to this, but there's the fear that if you miss, everything starts walking out of sight.

1 ReplyWe had a similar idea with our team, only change I would suggest is that people who aren't using the relic shouldn't attack the mobs; it causes them to agro and can make the relic holders job harder since minotaurs will begin teleporting and hobgoblins will throw up their shields. If you don't take the relic you should just run to the top of the stairs and wait for the first oracle and then kill each one that pops up while moving down the stairs and letting the relic holder take out the mobs. If done right you should be near the bottom of the stairs as soon as the relic holder has taken out the mobs and is ready to drop the shield for a cleanse.

1 ReplyThe only strategy that might be better than this is if you have 6 people in the Tier 1 group, then it's just a fight to see who gets it first lol. Maybe people with devastating supers should be in the lower tiers especially if they have good Oracle weapons.
