Gorgon Cave Third Boss Theory
Hello Everyone,
As you may know there has been extensive research being done together as a community to discover the proposed 6th and 7th chests. I have been reading and listening as well as attempting many theories with my friends on hard and normal mode. One theory that seems to intrigue me is that there is a third boss within the Gorgon cave that we have yet to discover (or perhaps the vex portal in the platform phase opens to a third boss . . ) As to who this third boss is I cannot say, perhaps Praedyth or Kabr himself but who knows. As to how this boss is spawned I do have a theory;
The mythology of the gorgons has been stated already by many people but I will shortly provide some info here. In the myth of the gorgons only one gorgon was completely mortal, Medusa. Perseus used the gifts of the gods to defeat the gorgon medusa and gifted her head to Athena. Athena had a leather shield called an Aegis (same name as our relic shield) and after she received the gift of medusa's head she placed it on her Aegis.
This segment of info is key to my theory. I theorize that there is ONE and only one truly kill-able gorgon in the cave ( I know that gorgons are kill-able, but they respawn and none drop any items) and I think that once this gorgon is killed an item will drop (perhaps the gorgons head). This item can then be used in conjunction with the Aegis and can be used to spawn the third boss or spawn a chest. I can't speak for how the item is used or how the relic is obtained but I think that most people agree that there is more to the gorgon cave then just blasting through the cave to get chests and remain hidden.
I will be testing this with my crew on both normal and hard mode to see if we can find a single gorgon that is more important in some way. I'll try to post here with some findings and hopefully this sparks a conversation about the link between the gorgons and our Raid mythology.

EDIT: alright so CLEARLY no one saw my post earlier saying this is dead and should NOT be trending again as it is ancient and does not exist. I tested it, hunted for theories and have a lot of hard raids under my belt and imo there's nothing else in the vault, especially not in the cave. So those of you choosing to insult me, jokes on you for wasting time on this thread as it was dead like almost a month ago. Let it go guys.

3 RepliesLol i wonder if bungie planned to troll everyone this hard or if it was a mistake, but you fool are looking into it WAY to hard and deep. Noook way do i think there a secret boss or area. You are just playing the game longer than intended which bungie wants. Now I'm not saying there isn't a hidden chest you get for doing something like not dying or something else. But as for there being a ultra secret boss or weapon get over it and go play outside.

simply: it isnt there.. and simply 2: since Bungie is obviously not even able to create new content (see copy paste missions, strikes, weeklies, events, iron banner, queens wrath etc.) for destiny there wont be a new boss.. period.. its not there and also bungie said that they wanted to develop the game according to user feedback they have proven themselv unable to add content.. why this is so, can only be speculated about.. maybe Staten got some copyrights and took them with him so that bungie isnt allowed to add stuuf or the developers simply could not since a lot of them seem to have changed.. (see 2013 vidoc names and titles and 2014 DLC announcement.. different people with similar titles..) *shrug*

What is the countermeasure? Does it have something to do with warlocks? If there is a counter measure can we destroy the gorgons...does that lead to something else? We've avoided their gaze, and when detected we've responded with immediate overwhelming force, we have yet to find a countermeasure. Anyone have thoughts on the card text? Once the way through the maze was discovered it seemed like it is far to simplistic for that to be everything in there.

On your companion app there are only 4 boss / checkpoint boxes that get checked off each week when you complete. (4 for norm/ 4 for hard) While I believe there is content we have yet to find, I don't believe that it's a boss. Chests maybe... But no boss / checkpoint

That spirit bloom chest is a huge key to the gorgons. That 1 spirit bloom holds the power to Bungies offices for the new dlc content that's already on our discs and no one wants to make a stand to lower the price!!!!! Just lold at what I'm typing here

If looking from above the vault, would the chest layout make a shape or pattern. Think of alpha lupi. The way the shapes came together to in that puzzle. If we can plot a 2d map of the chests and fill in the blanks on where the last two should be. Now, how to make them spawn is a totally different question but it may take us a step further.

5 RepliesThe secret is that the gorgons are the boss but if you kill one the others get stronger soltion split up and attack six gorgons at the same time and kill them. I suggest a team of sunsingers with ghorn but i doubt that a team can work together well enough to kill all of them.

There is a gorgon that is stationary under a light. Maybe that one? He doesn't seem to have a pattern.
